I saw highlights (not the actual fights) of his bouts with George Foreman and Ken Norton and I think if he had chosen to, he could have had more knockouts.

He certainly could hit a bit. He had Foreman down although that could be credited to exhaustion , and he hit Norton hard a few times.

Besides that, he fought everyone. EVERYONE except Joe Frazier and Larry Holmes. He boxed Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Ken Norton, Earnie Shavers twice, Gerry Cooney and Greg Page

    Your thoughts?

Young was a fox in the ring, he's one of my favorites.

I think that the two mentions of Young hitting hard there do tell you enough, he achieved a flash knockdown against Foreman and hit hard against Norton because, he was well- Norton. I do think that he could've gotten more knockouts if he was more outwardly aggressive when using those fast hands of his, but I wouldn't bet on him doing it to anyone major.

And yeah, he really fought everyone. Ali, Foreman, Norton, Shavers, Cooney, and Page as you mentioned- As well as Lyle, Ocasio, Dokes, Sims, Tubbs, and Tucker. He became a bit of a trial horse in the 80s, likely because he didn't have the money to retire and boxing still paid him decently.

I do wish that he went down to cruiser when it emerged in 79, as he was still pretty damn good and could've won a title. He still gave Ocasio, Dokes, and Cooney great fights in the early 80s and even won out over Sims, so I definitely think he would've posed a threat to the guys down there.
