Jimmy Paul was a patient boxer who could be very methodical but also had a very good righthand.Could Davis outspeed him to a win?
The Paul-Alvin Hayes fight might be a good barometer here. Davis could very easily outbox him to a decision win, but I could just as easily envision a Paul KO victory. My gut tells me that if a focused Davis can survive the occasional bombs of Rosario, he sure as hell could take those of Paul. Davis UD
no way. paul was better. far more complete......he could punch, box, had a good chin, experienced, very good size..........a complete package. freddie pendelton said that he was hit hardest by paul. so how could this go the distance?? davis would run......but paul knew how to catch you. they didnt call him the ringmaster for nothing. paul by tko in seven.
...........How did Paul-Cubanito Perez go the distance? That wasn't supposed to go but about five rounds. Harry Arroyo also took him the route, and he had a bit of a shaky beard. Paul was too patient. He'd land one big shot, and tend to survey it. Look at his championship run......... W15 Arroyo KO 14 Blake W15 Darryl Tyson W15 Perez L15 Haugen ..........Not exactly the mark of a deadly killer who simply swatted everyone out.
Jimmy was good, but in this one, Howard would have enought juice to take a probably close UD over 12, or 15, not making the mistakes he made against Rosario.
