Intruiging fight for me...I enjoy watching both work.

I consider Watanabe overall a bit better..he certainly has the edge in power, he can infight better from the film Ive seen and has the better resume.

Tokuyama is a good fighter who was very underappreciated during his reign...I dont know if it had anything to do with his bizarre situation with his nationality (He was born in Japan Im pretty sure of Korean ethnicity but claimed to be North Korean which wasnt popular in Japan, South Korea or the united states.. apparently he was banned from entering the U.S).
Brillant outside fighter, very crafty footwork and quite well schooled...a tad more athletic then purely skilled but had both attributes in spades.

Watching him against Penalosa you may think he has an issue with southpaws..but I think that was just Gerry..we all know how capable he is. Its just Tokuyama tends to rely heavily on his left which didnt gel so well in those fights.
His other fights against southpaws he handled them pretty easily though...using the straight right nicely..Also schooled Hasagawa in a sparring session thats on youtube.

I dont think from a style standpoint he would have any issue with Watanabe's stance..His other attributes however would give him a hard time.

Tokuyama likes to dominate, he tends to coast and switches off in just about every fight you see him in when he cops a hit. He rarely gets hit with big shots but when he did see Kawashima II. Even though that wasnt Masamori at his best, I think even then he wouldnt beat Watanabe.

I see Tokuyama taking some early rounds and being a difficult fight for Jiro until he figures him out and begins to dominate..Watanbe runs away with it probably getting a clear decision but possibly stopping if its over 15.

Watanabe tended to coast at times as well, but when he was on he was as well schooled as they came, and I'd agree with your prediction.

Tokuyama's rematch with Kawashima is available on Youtube BTW.

I can only see the first one there..is under a japanese name?

I used to have their second fight on my computer...Kawashima just blows him out.

Ive actually never seen the third fight.
