Jirov@Toney 4-26-03 best fight since 2000

  1. The most action packed fight of the new Millenium, both guy's ruined each other in this fight, Jirov was never this effective again, and Toney took so many shots he really started sluuring after this fight, it was brutal but entertaining!!:thumbsup
    Should have been a rematch..:(

  2. I didn't think Toney could fight again for a long time because he was suspended for Steriods:verysad in his last fight, i don't know where the hell Jirov has been he hasn't been in the ring for over a year??:bart

Toney-Jirov is an underrated fight. I enjoy putting this into my DVD player and watching it. Very entertaining indeed...

However, the best fight since 2000 in my opinion was Castillo-Corrales 1

    I prefer Corrales-Castillo I and Sith-Monishpour, among others.

    I love Toney-Jirov though.

  5. I hear ya, i live out here in Vegas and people talk and bring up the Castillo-Corrales fight up more, than Jirov-Toney, the Castillo-Corrales fight was a damn good scrap, but the Jirov-Toney fight was just a brutal hardcore fight..

The 2nd best fight in the History of the Cruiserweight division since Holyfield&Qwai.. :yep in 86..

Toney-Jirov may have not been better, but I actually like it better than Holyfield-Qawi I.

Being a fan of Toney and Qawi may play a role in that.

But Jirov went down to cruiser and Toney keeps going down to KFC.

I somehow doubt the fight will be made.

But you get more skill and defence from Jirov-Toney, I guess it depends on what you want.

I think Castillo-Corrales was better because both guys were standing up to some of the hardest punches I've seen thrown at lightweight and it was a clinic on infighting. Plus, the ending was perhaps the best I've ever witnessed.

Exciting fights with a high level of skill displayed are great as well, but to me, Castillo-Corrales is in a league of its own.

Sure, the ending was like a movie, but as I've watched it several times over, it's not as great as it was live, too much slugging and not enough skill displayed for re-watchability for me at least.

Plus, I think this fight showed that Castillo himself was a not a true KO puncher, but a guy who wears fighters down. Castillo had been labelled as a 1 punch KO artist many times over, I never agreed with it, the fact that the chinny Corrales took that many says a lot.
