I just wondering why nobody brings up how JJM body punching has improved since fighting Pac, I hear a lot about how Pac has since become a two handed fighter, stronger, more skilled, but to act as if JJM just stayed the same is not fair.

Also everybody talks about how good of a counter puncher he is , but he also puts the best punches together in the sport, and you can expect him to end his combo with a nice placed body shot.

I still got Pac winning because of age and weight, but his skill level is above Pacs regardless of Pacs improvements.

    * Pac hasn't been in the ring with a body puncher like Marquez in a minute, cotto didn't really fight that style, and Hatton tried a new style against the wrong guy, and couldn't get closer enough.

Margarito from a technical standpoint isn't better, but he hit him with some good shots there

Juan Manuel Marquez has definitely made his own stylistic changes since aging. Part may be slowing down and ad******g offensively and defensively to some of that loss of youthful athleticism, and part maybe an attempt to increase marketability, or even decrease the chance of judges' unfavorable decisions.

Since the Diaz fight, Marquez showed he was able to adapt to pressure much better now, and is increasing his range of counter-punches and follow-up combinations.

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5uxEG2GiM0[/ame]

Here we see Marquez being able to avoid most of the blows coming at him after the knockdown, even though he was clearly stunned and was hit a few times; it's much easier to notice when he gets hit then how many punches he actually avoids over the course of a murderous onslaught.

His head movement has dramatically increased as well, perhaps relying less on his feet and more on in-range counter-punches (and therefore more committed combinations). From 2:40 to 2:46, Marquez weaves and dodges punches while moving backwards without even looking. Throughout that fight his lateral movement and waist-movement was great against the best version of Katsidis we've likely ever seen. Now, I'm not saying he beats Pac for sure, but it will be interesting to see (assuming he gains the weight right) how his technical adjustments will play against Pac's own gradual adjustments.

Mofo just has to bring his right hand back better and keep it glued there! Something he recognized after watching the knockdown replay in the ring and even admitted it in an explanation to a co-worker backstage at the golpe a golpe studio.

Marquez is deceptively fast and his accuracy is crazy, which allows him to land those wonderful combinations..

Actually his punches have gotten worse. I've anal-lized his style quite deeply and can see that when he throws his uppercut, it actually curves at a wrong angle causing wind resistance. This is due to the age as his elbows arent what they use to be and he cant tuck them in properly.

:good Yup the waist movement, head movement bobbing and weaving, and body punching has increased... The waist movement and body punching are the most obvious...

I think some of the waist movement was influenced by Mayweather as he bends his wait so fast to really low positions to avoid shots... JMM is a mental man and I am sure he picked up a few tricks as I've never seen him give that much waist movement until after the Mayweather fight.

JMM has always been a great body puncher, and used this frequently against Pac

in the first fight he was also a very effective gonad puncher.

A disciplined, intelligent warrior. Mind and body constantly in motion, in harmony. He could probably teach the sport in a university that offered classes in boxing.

He always has been a great body puncher. He made Robbie Peden puke and quit from a body shot something like 10 years ago.

Also i dont know if you remember but in the 8th round of the second fight he started hurting Pac with body shots. I do think he needs to focuse on Pacs body more than his head.

Yup. Ever since his early safety first days, he was always an effective body puncher. His body punching as of late against the likes of Diaz and Katsidis has been brutal, but his most devastating body attack had to be against Terdsak Jandeang...Poor guy must have been pissing all sorts of blood after that bout.

Uppercut 101 during that fight also.

Anyone need to watch a fight of the best display of uppercut combination just watch this fight. At one point he started a combination from 6-8 feet away from Jandaeng with an uppercut.
