BULL****. Morales offered JMM $750k for a fight and JMM demanded a million. You think Morales fought Barrera 3x, Pac 3x, Chi, Espadas 2x, Jones, Hernandez, Chavez, but ran from JMM? Got, this JMM revisionist history is mindblowing.
Dude was getting beaten up by the Johns and Norwoods of the world whilst in his prime and wanted a piece of El Terrible? GTFO with that bull**** atsch
oh sorry...he rejected $750000 to fight Pac and then rejected $1.5 mill to fight Morales. Marquez appeared to reach stardom in May 2004 when he rallied from three first-round knockdowns to retain his titles in a draw with Pacquiao in a sensational action fight. HBO, which televised the fight, loved it so much they asked for a rematch, and Top Rank began working on it. But Marquez rejected a career-high $750,000 for the fight, asking instead for $1.5 million -- the entire license fee that HBO had offered for the rematch. Then, following Marquez's easy decision victory against Victor Polo on May 7, duBoef said Top Rank offered Marquez $1.5 million to fight Erik Morales this fall on HBO PPV. DuBoef said the Marquez camp asked for $3.5 million, a figure even the popular Morales has never been guaranteed for a fight. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=2135889 Morales ducks no man, animal, inanimate object, or god.
Lot of uniformed people here. Morales himself admitted he was at least partly to blame for the fight not taking place early in their careers. Not exactly where I read this but was during an interview taht took place within the last couple of weeks(I'm at work now but if i have the time and inclination I'll look for the link and post it)!
Excellent research :deal Dude thinks because he's got a wobbly chin and drinks **** he can ask for whatever amount of money he wants :-(
I'm a fan of both and though I like Marquez more, I still believe they should leave a fight with themselves in the fantasy/virtual world. People don't get your hopes up so much now because it's still very possible that this fight will happen unfortunately. I think JMM is a bit bitter that he never and will get to Morales' or Barrera's status but he needs to accept that and move on. The reason he's still relevant now is because earlier in his career he didn't get the tests that Morales & Barrera got. Despite who's fault that is, JMM didn't get the challenges they did as soon as he should've and will always be below them. He struggled with a past prime Barrera so imagine what one in his prime does(I'll rewatch that fight but it is a fact that he didn't have an easy fight with Barrera). Then again if Morales wants a payday then a Marquez fight is the way to go but I'm not eager about that matchup but admittingly I still might watch it.
Oh dear atsch Maybe this will make you feel better [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg5CAFUX79w[/ame]
The Cult of Moralestianity is strong in both of us. If he was also Puerto Rican-Palestinian guy in Ohio I'd start to get freaked out.
