You JMM haters are ridiculous. Nobody claims Morales ducked JMM, but he was a high-risk low-reward fight for Morales and JMM felt snubbed; and as was stated before, partially blamed himself for the fight not happening. JMM didn't 'duck' Manny, failed negotiations don't mean a duck, especially when they eventually fight, which is the exact opposite of what a duck entails. And no, he did not 'get his ass beat' by Norwood and John, you clearly haven't watched enough boxing to know better than boxrec.

Butthurt fanboys need to stop being bitter everytime JMM and/or his management ask for a lot of money. It's stupid, but hardly qualified for the hate he gets.

I actually like JMM, he throws the most beautiful combos in the sport. His management and negotiations annoy me though, and the whole "JMM was ducked by Morales/Hamed/Pac"

There is a bit of truth to all that. Hamed ducking JMM is well documented, Look it up:deal

Thank you JMM. This was a total joke PPV main event. It'll be interesting to see who he ends up fighting. I would think GBP will be working on that right away. I hope HBO puts up extra money and gets JMM-Khan done for April.

    http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2000/Aug-26-Sat-2000/sports/14250555.html

Nacho Beristain, Marquez's manager, criticized the Hamed camp's negotiating tactics.
"They want to get us when all of our energies are gone (from negotiating)," Beristain said. "They are only playing with our heads. We never want to fight (Hamed). Who do they think they are? They came out with an offer of $400,000. It is not worth it."

    -------------
He offered a then relatively unknown JMM $400k and he took less money to fight Norwood...sound familiar? Why you ask? B/c they were tired from negotiating...

    ----------------------

Marquez, who turned 27 Wednesday, said Hamed is difficult to fight.
"Hamed is like a wrestler," Marquez said. "He will toss you around if he can. It is almost the same way with fighting (Freddie) Norwood. You have to knock him out to get the victory."

I agree. Morales is an ATG. I just hope he retires now. There is no need to put himself through any more punishment. I hope there is other work he can do if he needs the money.

Unless Morales just outright refuses to get the much smaller purse, this fight will happen.

Rightfully GBP is leary of just how well this fight can sell, considering Morales has'nt looked great in his comeback fights.........

......however, if GBP does'nt take advantage of JMM like Bob Arum often did by harping on the issue of the unknown as far as PPV sales.......

......where Arum would have offered Marquez a flat sum take it or leave it deal and then pocketed all the profits if the event did well, GBP must offer JMM a heavy upside of the PPV profits if the event does well.

Summing up the two factors, if GBP offers Marquez a rightful and heavy upside of PPV profits and Morales is willing to take the much shorter end of the financial split, this fight likely is going to happen.

I recall Emmanuel Steward, Hamed's trainer at one time, saying that he advised Hamed to stay away from Marquez. Here is the quote, in fact.

"I remember when I was involved with training Prince Naseem Hamed about ten years ago, he (Marquez) was the one fighter that I told Naz that I didn’t want to fight." - http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=26038&more=1
