Really like this fight on the undercard of Mayweather vs Guerrero. J'Leon is a protege of Mayweather. Floyd worked his corner last time out when he fought Derrick Findley.

Love is a orthodox fighter, of athletic build and possess decent hand speed. Defensively he tries to replicate Mayweather in the use of the shoulder roll and is schooled decently in the pocket and works well at range. Got decent hand speed and reactions. Throws a variety of punches from jabs to head and body to right hands and left hooks and uppercut leads.

He's not the biggest puncher although he does have some stoppages and isn't the sort of person you can just walk through with reckless abandon.

He's not had much fanfare although over the last year he's slowly become more of a name. May the 4th represents his biggest test to date when he faces Gabe Rosado in what Team Mayweather hope is Love's coming out party against the Philadelphia fighter.

Rosado is coming off a loss to Gennady Golovkin to which he showed a lot of courage in taking the fight and fighting through a crimson tide. Rosado and his trainer Billy Briscoe have come up the hard way. They truly are grinders and with each defeat has come a vital lesson in the development of Rosado.

Gabe's development has been vastly different to Love. Chucked in with likes of Angulo it would of been easu for Rosado to chuck the sport in but he then reeled off numerous wins to get to #1 ranking for the IBF LMW title before bravely stepping up to face Golovkin at MW.

Rosado displayed a different style to what people have seen from him in past. He showed some good lateral movement and defensive skills against one of the best pressure fighters in the sport today. Rosado is a athletic and well schooled box fighter. He works at range and looks to work way in and get close and impose his will on his opponents.

Now with this fight i've had a watch of both men and have looked at who i think will win this fight.

Love operates at range well enough but i tend to feel his work is often predictable. One paced and his jab can often be a distracting tool but against better fighters he's going to be countered. Love has been hit with right hands that loop over in the past and Rosado throws the looping right hand well. Love also rolls out the right hand of his opponents and seems to struggle with it. Also his body is there to be hit and Rosado doesn't have to ask twice to chop the tree down.

What i like about Rosado is he presses but boxes and can counter punch and lead. Love's vulnerable to counter punches because he often punches in 1's and 2's and without the real authority that he should.

Rosado's very good at attacking but having a defensive move with it. He's well versed. He's patient and Love can exploit that patience in the early rounds by moving from outside and picking shots but Rosado is good at turning it up when he wants and his patience is calculated. He's willing to walk through fire if needs be and hand it out, He's proven he's a fighter even when hurt he's willing to duke it out.

Rosado can square up at times, Still naive in that sense but he's quite dynamic in his movements he does a little Trinidad move with his feet and creates angles for right hands. Whittaker allowed Rosado to get close and Gaby walked him down, Boxed with him then suffocated him and sends him out to sea. When Rosado squares up we know it's on! and Love's got to bite down and work and fend off the advances and use pivots and combinations and slide out and catch Rosado resetting.

For Rosado he's got a nice left hook which always works well against the Shoulder Roll IMO and when he puts his shots together he hurts his opponents. He's got a variety and shortens up his shots real nice so Love cannot afford to let him get close near ropes and even centre ring i think Love needs to maul like Mayweather did with Hatton and spoil Rosado's work.

Love himself creates nice angles and can dig but he's got to set his work up. Maintaining range and controlling the fight is what he needs to do, But a flicking jab and odd power punch won't be enough. Needs variety, Love has shown himself to be patient and does have variety so he's got tools for the job but i feel he's not the sharp and slick fighter he wants to be. Nice moves often are followed by a not so good move. Rosado's consistent, interchangable in his style. The better boxer IMO.

This is going to take a monumental effort from him to win IMHO. I've seen lesser guys get close,be effective and Rosado is a level and then some above Selders..

I believe Rosado's experience, energy and strength and ability to adapt and present offensive and defensive problems to Love will see him stop J'Leon late in the fight.

I applaud Love and his team for taking this fight. If he wins he's the goods IMO. I truly believe Rosado has a world title in him, He's a good fighter.

    Who you got? and Why?.

Both mens fights are on youtube and dailymotion. Not sure if i can post full fights..

  2. I saw boths last fights and looking at rosados record he has clearly got the better big fight experience,it is a good match and could be the fight of the night if plays out as competitive as expected
I havnt seen enough to give a solid opinion but mayweathers team obviously think this is winnable so ill go for love on points providing he can soak up a late barrage

Just edited some of it, put it together better.

Yep i do wonder if Mayweather and the Haymon team see more in him and feel Rosado maybe damaged goods.

It's a really interesting fight IMO.

Definitely an intriguing match up and one I'm looking forward to watching. Not sure it's worthy of a PPV undercard slot mind

:good No worries mate. I think this fight's been slept on. Rosado is a really good fighter and Love's no fool as much as i list his weaknesses it's going to be a good win for Rosado if he can get it.

I can see what you mean, I think it's being used for Love to showcase himself on the big stage. I think there going to come unstuck taking on Rosado. It's a good fight. One that i could accept being on PPV with the other fights around it.

I mean we're 7 weeks out from Froch vs Kessler II and i'd love a fight of this level on undercard. ATM TBA is going to do a Matthew Barney and stink the damn joint out..:-(

Rosado is a giant back at LM but it looks like he's taken the money to stay up at Middle one more time. I think that helps make this fight all the more even.

I think it's a good fight and no problem with it being on an PPV undercard. People are buying for Floyd so as long as it's an exciting competitive fight, that's about all you can hope for. I'm surprised PBF didn't feed his boy a softie tbh.

I'm thinking Rosado has had just about enough time to have fully recovered from the GGG beating to power his way to the win. His confidence in his own ability to take a punch must be sky high now as the lad must have had doubts following being KO'd in the past.

Love's brother was shot dead not to long ago and Rosado's step father has passed away. Rosado reached out to show sympathy to Love and J'Leon was touched by Rosado's show of class.

Both men know how big this fight is and no doubt the determination will be even greater..

Rosado always comes on strong in the 2nd half and I think that'll be the key. It's funny that he actually got **** for cancelling his fight on CBS in Dec and in turn he went on to face GGG on HBO and now has this fight.

Yeah noticed people moaning at his management. I mean people moan when guys don't chase fights. This guys chasing fights and then some!.

You're right he does come on strong in second half of fights. Very subtle change of pace and then from there he just pushes it and pushes it but always remains quality in his work. One of the best finishers around atm IMO.

Yeah he is such a ducker that he moves up a weight to fight GGG!

    2nd half he's pouring it on:deal
I like him. That was a real make or break fight with Karass and he has just kept improving fight by fight since it. TV friendly as Teddy says.

Yep he is, He punches well and has a nice style it sort of flows while staying technical he presses the fight without looking a mess. He does different things in there but always does it in good fashion.

Tough kid, I just hope he wins this. These are the type of guys you want winning titles.

Love claims he chose this fight. We shall see if he lives to regret it..

It's one of those fights were it looks like that it is so obvious that Love isn't ready for Rosado that there MUST be more to it than meets the eye Skills lol

Excellent analysis of what you think will happen on the fight. I can see you researched both fighters well and put work into this post. I salute you.

In my view, I just don't see Leon losing. I see him as the next Mayweather of the middleweight division. Also Rosado is on the decline whilst Leon is on the rise.
