JM Marquez v J Diaz: It looks likely. Who will win?

Far from a done deal yet....Timothy Bradley has just called out Juan Diaz....
As for JMM-Diaz it would be a very close fight and could see Juan winning

 

UD or TKO.....Juan is very good and he's very determined but honestly....he's not on the level as the VERY BEST. Juan could get there by fighting and getting experience with guys like JMM but I see Juan Manual as too experienced, too skilled, too talented and over all too much for the young baby bull. I expect a decent compettive fight until the middle rounds where Juan Manual begins to pull away in a dominating way.

It has nothing to do with who is more worthy of this fight with JMM...it's all about promotional ties and money. It's a hell of a lot easier to make this fight rather than with Nate who is a Don king fighter. Nate will get his turn with JMM.....it's just how the chips fell and unfortunately Nate is playing with different chips. Once J.Daiz is out of the way the only other fight for JMM is Nate...unless PAC is available and they want to do it again.

 

JMM ain't the type to run his mouth off, unless we are talking Manny Pac.

But beating Campbell would turn the tide seriously in his favour - everyone knows Manny cherrypicked David Diaz, beating the linear champ followed by the 3 alphabelt champ would prove it in style.

 

In all honesty Casa was a very calculated and intelligent move on the part of JMM. Casa whom JMM faught wasn't the CASA that was dominating the ring back in the late 90s and early 2000s. Casa's last two fights against guys he should have destroyed had he been prime or even just a little past it. But he struggled with Kasidis and he lost to Santa cruz....both are soild opponents but ELITE or CHAMPIONS they are not....Nate would have been a better test and a harder foe....But I think the win is very good from a legacy standpoint just b/c it's CASAMAYOR! That name is big in boxing even though at this stage the win isn't what it could have been had this fight taken place 7 yrs ago. I still think Nate looses to JMM but Juan and his team kind of cherry picked Casa!

 

It was a clever move - but not as blatant as cherry picking Diaz just because he had the WBC title

Diaz wasn't even top 10 really in the grand scheme of things, ok had a belt and was rated, but come on.....

Amir Khan was rated prior to being blown away

 

Tough call... really tough... JD is physically a strong LW. You have to see that. Not a big puncher at all, but he's not easy to back up and really hard to stop in attack mode. Actually, no one could pulled that off so far. If he can keep up with the pace like in the Freitas or Julio Diaz fight, JMM, a natural FW, can find himself in a lot of trouble. I mean a lot.

Diaz is all about attack, but smart attack: his offense works pretty well for defense as long as he's not letting the opponent come forward or set up big punches at all. JMM can be effective in counterpunching, but how effective, when the other guy throws 1000+ punches? I see Diaz, physically the bigger and stronger man in the ring forcing JMM into a Juan Diaz style of brawl (inside fight, no room to breath, a lot of combos and Diaz doing a pretty good job landing twice as many as taking) and the pace could be too much for JMM at 35.

Again, this is 135, Diaz' territory who'll be 10 pounds heavier IMO fight night and I don't think he'll respect JMM's power. In fact, I don't see Marquez hurting Diaz at all, the guy's a tough dude, and believe me, 10 years younger and full of energy, it's really hard to nutralize that aggression and punch output. Nate Campbell never tried that - he did it the hard way: fighting on the inside, throwing an insane amount of punches in his best performance ever, and (no disrespect) Diaz still had to get a cut and be distracted from all the **** before the fight (the Don King situation, the legal and verbal battles, the accident of the trainer) to lose it. I don't see Campbell winning the rematch. Not one win if they fight 5 times. Diaz really had a bad night.

I rate JMM #1 P4P. But Diaz, 10 years younger and physically the bigger man in the fight with unlimited amount of energy - it's not something a slick counterpuncher like JMM wants at the age of 35. Too much is the keyword.

I feel Diaz is a bit underrated due to that Campbell loss, but that will never ever happen again IMO. All the bad things before and in the fight vs. a superb Campbell - and Juan still made it close. I see JMM landing crisp combos to make or win close rounds in the first half, but I don't see him not only keeping up but even stepping up the pace in the second half like Nate did... No, I don't see that, and IMO that's the only way.



Diaz by close decision.

 

its funny how some people think its all up to the fighter on who they face, calling them cowards or duckers. alot of times the fighter can call out anyone and everyone they want, but its there promoters/handlers who decide whats what. it comes down to which match can make the most bang for their buck with the smallest amount of hands in the jar. does DLH want to work with DK or keep it in house.

Go F#ck yourself. JMM is running away from Nate plain and simple and if JMM doesn't fight him he is a coward.

As for Diaz and Juan being a good fight, yeah its a good fight, but it means nothing.

Diaz and Nate would determine the undisputed champ of the division.

 

The fighter isn't a puppet, at the end of the day he is that one that decides who they want to fight. JMM could fight Nate if he wanted, he thinks he is going the easy route, but I'll be happy when the Baby Bulls whoops his ass.
