Right, lets take Floyd Jnr out of the equasion and forget the fact that this fight might never ever happen. Who wins this fight and how? If JMM beats Diaz and Pac comes through against Margarito (TBC) then there is a small chance it might happen next year. Depends how well JMM and GBP can bait Pac for a third fight. It'd be a fantastic fight and event for both men to bow out on. The weight is a major problem. So I dunno what weight would be a fair compromise here to both. Pac would hold most of the cards at the negotiating table so I'd imagine 147lbs and upwards especially after fighting Tony M. Who here thinks JMM could pull it out or who here thinks Manny has evolved into such a fighting machine that he could actually take JMM out inside 6 rounds? Love to hear your opinions. (I know you find this kinda thing on the GF but heyho I'm curious)
hate to say it but manny takes JMM out. wudnt be surprised if he didnt go 6 rounds. manny's alot fresher than jmm and looked alot better at the higher weights
Agree 100% This fight wouldn't happen at lightweight for sure. Any weight higher and Marquez loses his speed and power, he'd be a sitting duck for Pacquaio
The Pacman would take it easy. He's improved too much and is now much more of a complete fighter. If the fight happens at 147 or even 140, Pac won't have to struggle to make weight like he did when he fought him at 130. He now has power in both hands, doesn't leave himself off balance like he used to, has retained his speed and power while moving up in weight and is harder to hit than he used to be (although Clottey didnt have too much trouble-but that's because of the way Pac fought-and he would fight differently against Marquez). I've always felt Marquez is barely even a lightweight, although maybe I have been a little harsh on his lightweight performances. I've said in the past that he struggled with Diaz but thinking about it again, he wasn't badly hurt against him and still managed to knock him out. I think hes still a good fighter at the weight but he would struggle any higher than that and looked bloated at 147 against Floyd. He's a tough mother****a but Pac would knock his ass out this time for sure. I think Pac would stop him around the midway point. He'd beat his ass so bad that he would turn him into a *******.
Let's be honest, he wasn't overly elusive in either of the first two bouts. He got caught a load of cracking shots and adapted. Sure he's tough as nails, but my concern is he's had a long hard career, and he'll certainly be fighting at a weight (probably light welter) in which Pacquiao seems faster and stronger than ever. I just don't think he could take the type of punishment Pacquaio is dishing out anymore, don't get me wrong, were it a year ago i probably would have picked Marquez, but I just don't think he has the resistance he once did, while Pacquaio seems to be hitting harder than he ever has.
At 135 it might be quite competitive but anything over that its Manny all the way, in a way its a shame that we wouldnt ever see it at lightweight again
I hate to say it but JMM has little chance at this stage I think. Baring in mind that the fight would probably be at welterweight/light welterweight, where Manny has proven to be just as explosive and powerful if not more so than before, and Marquez has proven to be too small for the weight and lethargic, Manny would probably give him a beating. Only weight where this is a good fight at this stage is 135. JMM would probably take the fight at any weight though regardless.
The strange thing is that JMM in their 2nd fight was a better fighter than in the initial one and it seemed, at the time, that he was the one improving. (in fact, I thought he won the 2nd fight, and the 1st!) However, the time elapsed since the re-match and the way their careers have gone since suggests that Pacquaio wins this. Not big, and definitly not easy, but he is probably at his peak, or only just past, and JMM is over the hill. 116-112 Pac Man.
