On a somewhat relevant note, I just watched Barrera vs Morales I and II back to back and I kind of regret it now. I really miss the legit bad blood they had and the outstanding fights they were able to put on. Those two are on such a tremendous level above the majority of the guys from 122 to 130 that it's absolutely amazing that they were around at the same time. Normally guys that good are spaced out over a substantial amount of time. We were blessed to have two amazing fighters (with such contrasting personalities) around the same time. Just amazing.

Its too bad that they did'nt fight Marquez when it was relevant........and I'll add that Hamed was in that mix as well.......

What an era of featherweights, Marquez, Morales, Pac, MAB, and you throw in even Hamed for his flamboyance and following.....

You have 5 fighters there who were of high caliber, and I'm sad to say that Pacquiao was the only one that was willing to fight any one of them when it was relevant.

MAB did not fight Marquez when it was relevant.

Morales did not fight either Marquez or Hamed.

Of course, Hamed was left out of the mix on his own choosing........what I'm pointing out is that there could have been alot more matchups during this era that would have been of great significance as far as boxing history is concerned.
.......but those fights were never made and I believe the fact that MAB and Morales getting so comfortable fighting eachother was the main reason why some of these other matchups did'nt take place.

Arriba, to clarify, you insinuated that MAB and Morales were above everyone else, and though you may have not necessarily meant it that way, on their move up to 126 lbs in that division existed Marquez who had already been avoided by Hamed, and yet when MAB beat Hamed, he made sure to immediately surrender that belt so that he would not be forced to fight Marquez.

Forget about who's fault it was that Marquez was'nt thrown in the mix, but he was'nt......and its right there after every fight MAB and Morales ever fought at 126 lbs, neither of them even mentions JMM in their post fight comments on "who's next?"........which is signals that they were not in any hurry to get in the ring with Marquez if they could avoid it.

This rich era of featherweights that included JMM, Morales, MAB, Pac, and Hamed should have produced more matchups.........

.......I've always been criticized by the *******s as being a hater.......but I've always said that this rich generation of featherweights would have been wasted had it not been for Manny Pacquiao and his willingness to fight everyone of them.

Both MAB and Morales had no qualms about facing Pacquiao, which goes to show that great fighters would rather face and go up against power than face real skill.

The greats have greater fear of real and elite skill than they do power.

i know boxing age different than actual dob but also geting those breaks early on an taking advantage of them also count so mab and em did that but marquez did have few opportunity early often being avoided an mismanaged but his longevity has been superior cause cronologicaly speaking is oldest i believe the three are legandary an at one time from one place in one era they are something to be proud of from acountry stadpoint mexico an for boxing the sport to chose your order is like apples an oranges there all great

JMM was wrongfully ducked by these two legendary greats MAB and Morales...MAB finally fighting JMM when he was past his prime and actually thinking he had anything but a punchers chance was just ridiculous...MAB was sluggish throughout the fight, got beat to the punch, and only real highlight for him was the knock down ruled a slip....

Morales now wanting a piece of JMM is a huge pu$$y move because he didn't even mention fighting Marquez once before his ass was handed 4 straight losses and now wants to step it up to Marquez?? Please stay retired and watch a true technician at work ya dig.

At the end of the day.. you are judged on your actual achievements.... not on a particular round of a big fight or particular skills... IMHO JMM's rather pale resume makes him the least accomplishments among the two other mexican greats!

a win over mab and casa was done on the tail end of their respective careers...........a win over baby bull..what else...er...ah....
One thing it can't be denied about JMM is guts/courage to fight pbf!...

If he had a different manager maybe he could have ended his career above Morales and MAB. Could have..would have....tsk tsk too bad for jmm fans it did not happen

    You hating *******

I guess by your own standards Pac must be hugely overrated since his wins over Morales, Dlh and Hatton were on "the tail end of their respective careers". And his win over Cotto means nothing since he had already been ruined by Margarito.........

Which would mean that Pac's legacy is only based on a great win over Barrera and iffy win over JMM.............is that about right:think

Barrera and Morales are tied for 1st. for me, although if I had to choose between the two I would be biased toward Barrera simply because if I were a boxer that's how I would probably fight.

Juan Manuel Marquez has great accomplishments, and the only one between them that won a title at junior lightweight, but I still think that Barrera and Morales long career over several great fighters has given them a good lead over Marquez.

The other fighter in the featherweight mix that doesn't get mentioned a lot is Junior Jones. Junior Jones fought Barrera twice, and beat him in both occasions. Junior Jones also fought but loss to Erik Morales.
