It was close. And yeah. Casa could have won it if he took round 11 and 12.. Im so pissed in one of our local commentators as he cannot stop praising JMM even if he missed a punch and completely ignored Casa's clean hooks to JMM's face..
I had JMM leading but it certainly wasn't a domination. It looked competitive until the last 2 rounds before the TKO.
It was close. Either guy winning by 2 points, maybe 3 points would not have shocked me. But JMM seemed to be ahead and seemed stronger just before the stoppage. Very good JMM win.
I'd like to see the card before saying the scores were wrong. The truth was, the first four rounds really were close. If the judges gave Casa those rounds I can see why the cards were even.
You'd have to give Casa everyone or at least 3 of those first 4, to make a case that it was close....... .....but the reality is that though the punch connects were pretty close through those first 4 rounds, JMM landed the much harder shots in those rounds. Casamayor was puching his jab out, JMM was using his lower body and feet to drive his punches toward the target. Dont really see the basis to which to give Casamayor the edge in those rounds.....I always give the fighter who is putting effort and mustard on his shots the edge in those rounds, and normally the judges do also....... Not that they mean anything, infact I never rely on them.....but here are the final punchstats from the fight....... Thrown......JMM 516 Casa 552 Landed JMM 160 Casa 122 Connect % 31% 22% I defy anyone to honestly come here and say that Casa landed the harder shots thoughout the fight. JMM clearly landed the much sharper and harder punches. Alot more leverage on them....... .....and if someone wants to look at the punchstat above and come to concede that indeed JMM landed the harder blows......how the hell can anyone make a case for the fight being close. Btw, I feel that the punchstat numbers are wrong as usual. By history, they almost always fail to count body shots, and JMM threw them in abundance last night......its how he wore down Casa and had him tired and dragging his shots at the end...... ....but if we were to count body shots, the disparity in those punch connects would be much wider!
i had it 95-95 too can u jmm fans stop saying that he keeps getting robbed? ask mab about the scoring in their fight please, and the knockdown that wasn't scored you guys have friggin selective memory
Ask MAB? The guy who said after his Pac rematch that he thought he controlled Pac with his jab? :rofl :rofl :nut
i don't even like barrera im just pointing out in their fight, harold lederman had it for barrera if you are gonna call a 95-95 score in last night's fight a robbery, then you could just as easily make the case that barrera was robbed in their fight take your friggin blinders off for once and look at things objectively
There were many close rounds, but I had JMM winning comfortably, it realy surprises me that someone thought that it was a draw leading to 11th round. First 4-5 rounds were close, but after 6th JMM was connecting harder shots and instead of backing up was moving forward, he was getting stronger with every round leading up to 11th. I only seen left hand landing properly for Casa and it wasnt that offten, while JMM was connecting with various shots: body, right hands, jabs. I was one of the few here who thought that Casa will win this, but after 5rounds it was obvious who was better fighter. JMM did great job, I didnt think he can carry that weight so well, his power was allright and his skills were top notch as usual.:thumbsup
Yeah I really don't care about punchstats they mean nothing to me. I was actually rooting for JMM yesterday because I hate that ridiculously dirty Cuban. I had JMM ahead 7-3. Regardless, say the judges gave Casamayor 3 of the first 4 rounds I can see them having it even. However if they were giving Casamyor very many rounds after the first 4 welll......:nut As I have said to you in the past, you always have Marquez's fights in Marquez's favor by more than anyone else. You ever wonder why that is? :huh
You quote a Harold Lederman score, and you ask me to take the blinders off?:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :nut
harold lederman gets paid to score fights he is what is known as a professional you are what is known as a deluded fan
Yup it wasn't a dominant performance for majority of the fight except of course the brilliant finish, I wonder why a lot of people are spreading the idea that it was a lopsided scoring edge going in to the knockout for Marquez? It was a fairly close fight, with Casa surprisingly landing a lot by Marquez' stingy defense standards. I think it was the power differential that did Casa in. Once JMM realized he could take Casa's best shots, he started taking risks with his combinations. There were several instances prior to the knockdown when Joel was stunned with Marquez's hooks. But even then it was still hard to score those rounds as Casa was landing consistently counterpunching Marquez. It only took a slight imbalance to finally decide the fight, and Marquez was ruthless in pursuing the checkmate. You better believe some people's opinions should be taken with a liberal sprinkling of salt when it comes to their favorite fighters.
