JMM-Floyd...could it be a repeat of Duran-Leonard?

    Some similarities here...

JMM may not be the puncher Duran was, but he DOES have a somewhat similar style...they are both boxer-punchers with accuracy that is unbelievable. They are also both very talented defensively.

Not much is similar with Leonard and PBF other than handspeed.

But could this fight go a similar way? The smaller man forcing the most talented boxer in the world into his game?

i dont see that comparison at all. two counterpunchers, but marquez can trade when he has to.

I don't see the comparison either. The biggest difference (at least to me) is that Duran managed to force the fight to Leonard and bait him into a brawl, Marquez doesn't have the gusto or the firepower (at least the PROVEN fire power at 140+) to get Mayweather to do the same.

It will look like the 3rd Duran - Leonard fight.

Marquez will beat Mayweather and then pacman in December ... and he will shut a f** up everyone who is disrespecting him

  9. This fight is trash. Obviously Gayweather sees a weakness in Marquez he knows he can capitalize on. Otherwise, do you really think he would have signed to fight him? No way. Floyd won't take a fight that poses a risk. He only fights people who are stylisticly made for him, just like Roy Jones used to do before getting his asss knocked out. That was one of the best days in boxing history, especially the time he twitched on the ground like he stuck his finger in an electrical socket.

No not likely . . . JMM style wise would not press PBF . . . he will counter punch and PBF knowing that JMM can out point him will be very cautious.

Nah . . . too far from Duran-Leonatd fight . . . in fact this could be boring.

    Duran was a boxer-puncher?
    JMM is very talented defensively?

    I disagree on both counts.

Also, Marquez's punch power isn't far off Duran's considering his stoppages of Casamayor and Diaz (first man to stop both), and PBF's handspeed is nowhere near the same level as Leonard's, which was absolute lightning.

I can't see this unfolding in a similar way, sadly.

Duran swarmed Leonard and forced his fight on Sugar Ray.

JMM is a counter-puncher, if he swarms Floyd he will be picked off, he can't fight in that style like Duran could.

Floyd being Floyd will wait and wait, and make Marquez come to him because it will be JMM that feels the pressure to entertain the crowd and make it a fight, and when he comes to Floyd he will be fighting Floyd's fight, and it will be Floyd who makes JMM fight his fight.

It's a bad fight for DINAMITA imo.

JMM would win at least four rounds...nobody has won 6 clear rounds against JMM

The main thing I've noticed (and surely lots of others have as well) is that JMM is getting hit more and more in his fights.

Diaz rocked him numerous times with the left and I was surprised it took JMM as long as it did to adjust.

He's a brilliant fighter ... but I think he's showing his age, he's slowed down considerably the last few fights, is hittable, and Mayweather knows it.

I don't see a Duran Leonard comparison on any level.

Duran was supposed to have shown up the smaller man so that the media darling SRL could shine........
.....thats why Duran was so demonically possesed to destroy Leonard.

......thats the similarity....JMM is feeling the disrespect just like Duran felt it prehype to the first Leonard fight.

I've already heard Mayweather get interviewed on talk radio......in fact he was on Jim Romes radio show this morning, and not once did Rome direct a question to Mayweather on the task that is JMM on July 18th.....
.....instead, all Rome talked about was how the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight could come to fruition with both fighters believing they are the cash cow.

When Mayweather is getting asked questions these days, JMM is'nt even in the discussion.......thats what is likely to drive JMM to the depths of hunger that Duran exhibited against SRL.

Disrespect........thats a big similarity for JMM if you want to parralel his position to Mayweather with Duran's against Leonard's.

Alot of you guys have alot of learning to do about this sport of boxing.......

.....you dont have to be a come foward fighter to be aggressive. JMM is plenty aggressive with the intensity of his punches and the way he throws hands even from counterpunch mode.

I believe that describes JMM beautifully...."an aggressive intense counterpuncher!"

    JMM shock the world!!!

****... seems that lots of posters here are not giving jmm much of a chance against floyd... its either they overrate floyd or just underestimate jmm cause they think he is smaller

BEAR IN MIND THAT LIKE OTHER ATGS MARQUEZ HAS DEFIED THE ODDS IS CONSIDERED AS AN UNBELIEVABLE FIGHTER HIMSELF
