and has not lost a step apparently. As a matter of fact, he keeps getting better and better.
I mean Marquez just continues to turn back the clock.

It's one thing to do it as Hopkins has, beating people but looking slower and older as he has undoubtedly has, but Marquez? This man has been in WARS with the best of them and has done so in his 30's and continues to look like he is in the prime of his life and continues to stop opponents.

Don't you guys thinking he might be on some illegal substances? At the very least, doesn't it go through some of you guy's heads?

Not really. I don't think there's any particular rocket science about it. Unlike Morales and Barrera, who were fighting at world class in their teens and world champs at 21, Marquez never fought much opposition until his late 20s and I think he may have already hit his 30s by the time he won a title, or very close to. When you add the soft opposition for much of his early career to his natural, cautious counterpunching style and it's understandable that he's a little better preserved. Even now, he hasn't been in that many all out wars, the second Pac and Barrera fights maybe, not too many more.

Don't get me wrong, still very impressive though.

    not at all...

  6. That's a very negative view. I'd rather believe that he is a gifted and dedicated athlete.

I'm 36 too and I try to maintain a high fitness level with running and football and I'm not too far off what I was 10 years ago, although I have abused my body as much as the next guy over the years with drink, junk food, and other things. I'm sure a dedicated professional sportsman can maintain that sort of fitness with a clean and healthy lifestyle and without the aid of illegal substances.

Considering his style pre 2005, it's no wonder why he is still prime. It is just recent that he has changed into a boxer brawler. Before he was pure tactician.

JMM just like Hopkins, had less wear and tear during their younger years. Until recently, JMM is a mostly a boxer. Pac, MAB and Morales maybe younger, but they have been to far more wars than JMM.

jmm is still 35. but he is actually younger in ring age when compared to the other fab 3 : morales, barrera and pacquiao due to the reasons mentioned by "TKO". that has enabled him to extend his career and still compete in the highest level until probably to his late 30s.

Not to be against it, but nobody has beat Father time... JMM stays on the top because of his sole techniques and skills, which doesn't wears out his body. Unlike Pacquiao, he depends on his reflex and body to perform what he does best.

And we all agree that brawlers and punchers doesn't have a long career like technical gifted ones.

And no he doesn't need illegal substances. Healthy diet, Nutritous food, Exercise and Vitamins can help people even the older ones.

That would be my answer to your thread.
