I read Marquez wants a belt at 140 because he goes down in history somewhere so I think 140 .I read he's ready to vacate the WBO lightweight title .I think that's the whole idea of a move up to become the first Mexican fighter to win 4 belts in 4 different divisions
I think GBP need to do a bit wittling down a bit like Arum putting JCC Jr against Duddy. Put some of these guys against each other, find their level and invest big in the winners whilst the losers can pick up paychecks on undercards. As likely as finding a 'Calzaghe all-time lb 4 lb King' thread in the general but a nice dream. Good question :good heart says yes you know, as you said earlier hes a warrior he puts it on the line every time. Talking bout his kinda confirms khan-marquez would be a 140 fight, still doesnt do enough for Khans career for me. As good as Marquez is, people will always point to him being too small at lww for a Khan win to be particularly credible
Wtf? Dude, Marquez is the one who wants to move up and be the first mexican to be a 4weight champ. Khan Isn't pulling him up, It's MARQUEZ'S Decision. Marquez shouldn't force ****. If he can't fight for the title at 140 then he should stay at 135.
If it does take place I think it will happen at 140. The fight shouldn't take place at all as I lightweights should fight lightweights and light-welters should fight light-welters. Marquez/Katsidis makes the most sense. I don't think Khan can make 135 without turning into a corpse, and I don't think Marquez is going to be effective at 140. A catchweight? Maybe. It would be better than either 135 or 140 but I would still rather they not fight each other.
It should take place at lightweight or not at all. Marquez in completely ineffective above. He's starting to slow down at lightweight so id tip Khan to beat him whatever weight they fight at.
Marquez is the one who wants to be a 4weight mexican champ. If he wants to be then he's the one who HAS to move up to 140. If he can't do it then stay at 135.
If he wants to fight at 140 fair enough but I very much doubt he'd win a world title there, especially against Khan who is so much bigger and stronger and fitter.
Agreed. Kinda pathetic. Hopefully Khan will step it up and fight Maidana or some legite 140 pounder otherwise I can't defend his ass.
its funny how khan moved up to 140 to avoid the like of marquez, valero and now hes that bit older, slower, more shop worn, khans wants to fight him
What??? Dude, the guy got ktfo 2 fights before and you can't give credit for him moving up to fight a world champ. Maybe not the best champ around but still a champ at a higher weight class. Marquez was fighting Mayweather at the time. Everyone thought Khan would get murdered at any weight if Khan fought JMM at the time. Plus do you actually think Khan would win a fight with JMM when he was at 135 after the Barrera fight? I don't think so. And you're completely laughable. When the Mayweather fight happen's he's some ****ing unstoppable force now straight after he's just come off a DOMINATING win and he's become older slower and shop worn after one fight? atsch:twisted:
The impression I got is that Marquez wants a shot at Pacquiao for a third time regardless of weight or titles, and it's Khan who wants Marquez, hence why he made an appearance at Vegas and has been calling him out for months. I'm sure Marquez isn't adverse to a title in a 4th division but I think his main priority is the Pacman. Khan is the one forcing this not Marquez, and for what it's worth, I think the fight should and would happen at 140. It just makes more sense, a legend challenging himself one more time and a young champ putting it all on the line against a legend.
havent re-watched the diaz fight again bu he looked alot more marked up than the mayweather. i heard a saying in boxing 'u get old overnight', imo for marquez this was it even know he won. i shall re-watch the fight again over the weekend
Yes but that was only expected. Everyone is going to look more marked when they come up against Mayweather. He's the best defensive fighter in the world. Marquez getting older doesn't help either so it does happen. Well my friend, Marquez hasn't got old overnight yet. His counterpunching was a ton better and he had his sharpness back in the rematch although he did tire in the later rounds which is expected but no way did he age overnight bro.
I agree. He looked old. Slowed down in the later rounds. It's a good job he was fighting someone as bad as Juan Diaz.
