i can see khan giving marquez a right spanking, he's just too big, too fast, and with too much youth. the speed is the thing that is going to cause marquez problems like it does for every aging warrior. best time for khan to fight marquez is now.
Ditto-its utter bull****. Oh and remember,Not only do we get Marquez/Khan,we miss out on Marquez/Katsidas,a far more intriguing bout. I'd love to see Marquez counter punch and box while Katsidas throws the kitchen sink at him.
Agreed, Katsidis Vs JMM would he a far better fight. A hungry pressure fighter like Katsidis can either force an old fighter to channel all his experience into a glorious and bloody victory, or can cause old legs to wilt :deal Old, smaller fighter relying on a punchers chance against a taller, faster, younger athlete with only one glaring weakness (not likely to be easily exploited against a man of Marquez's dimensions) who will follow a gameplan and play it safe, is not a recipe for a good fight, nor a legacy enhancing fight for either man. Khan shouldve fought Maidana. That's a step in the right direction. Fighting Marquez is yet again delaying actually fighting a genuine 140lber near the top of what is arguably the hottest division in the sport right now. I would've preferred to see Khan fight Urango. Same gameplan, only Urango is bigger, arguably fresher, and Has at least fought other top fighters of the same weight with which we can gauge where Khan is really at.
I respect your points but you need to understand at this stage Marquez isn't after a war, he's after money and legacy, and Khan brings both of that. A win against Khan would make him the First Mexican to win at 4weight divisions and Khan would bring more money than Katsidis any day. And embarassed for Khan fans? That's a stretch my friend. I am dissapointed to say the least but at the same time the double standards and hypocrites around here are rediculous. Surely you were around when people were saying JMM would **** on Khan at any weight when JMM fought Mayweather.
I was just about to post the same thing. Even Judah would be a better match up than this nonsense. At least he's been there and done it at the weight.
Even if someone thought Marquez would beat Khan a while back, this does still not excuse Khan from not competing in a division where he holds one of the major world belts. What the ****s he doing? Had he not went down the path of least resistance and claimed a World title AND not spoke as much trash about his fellow 140 pounders, I wouldn't have as much a problem as i do with the Marquez fight. As the way things are, its a joke
I agree the trash-talking was too far but he only argued to with a FAKE Bradley, otherwise he wouldn't have. From the interview I read yesterday, he was being very respectful saying that they're top champions etc etc. I also listened to an interview today and it seems we all just want all the match-ups to happen RIGHT NOW and that IS the case. The thing is they just can't. As sad as it sounds from a Boxing fan, these fights DO need to be built up as much as I do agree with you in wanting to see Amir and the other top guys fight each other. I mean, you wouldn't fight King Kong for £100,000 when you could fight a ****** for £1,000,000 now would you? These guys want to make as much money as possible and have a good career ahead of them. I mean think about it, these guys are putting their careers on the line as such a young age whereas guys like Pacquiao, Mosley, Floyd have all already made a good career and a good amount of money to say 'hey, I've made enough, I think it's time to risk myself' If you know what I mean.
The likes of Manny have hard hard careers from the offset (Floyd not si much but has still faced Castillo, who was one of the dangerman at 135 when Floyd was there and the no.1 threat to Floyd at that time, and an emotionally strained Corrales, who at least carried a serious reputation when Floyd stepped in the ring against him) Khan has had it relatively easy fromthe get go and his financial state is already completely secure. He's young and is a multi-millionaire, at the worlds hottest gym with 'boxings top trainer at the moment, he holds one of the main ABC straps, which are meaningless BECAUSE of fighters like Khan, and yet he's still not ready to face the best in his division??? It's bollocks.
I agree, but you know how HBO are looking for a new star etc etc and will be looking to milk Khan for all he's worth. ABC straps are meaningless because of fighters like Khan? Mate, which other division is properly unified? I don't think there's one. That's where Boxing Politics come in. I'm not keen on discussing that **** because I nor any other Boxing fan like Boxing politics but it's always going to be there. If the money is there win another fight then it happens. We as fans just have to sit on our seat and wait, as sad it is for us.
Bradley-Alexander are looking to prove who's the best. Who is 'the champion' so to speak. Khan is 3rd/4th in a division and is wearing a belt. It might as well be the elt on his dressing gown, that means as much.
As I said, it's Boxing Politics... And I hope you apply that last rule to every other fighter who supposedly isn't willing to unify a division.
Yes I do. I base a fighters quality on the quality of his opposition. He who fights the best, is amongst the best. He who beats the best, is the best. All belts are meaningless. At least Bradley/Alexander (they're the examples as we're talking about 140) have beaten the best in their division and are looking to fight each other. That's called establishing supremacy. Khan is just a top 5 guy, and that only because he beat two top guys who posed him very little threat stylistically.
