The only fighter to have KO Manny Pacquiao in a great fashion and one of the best Mexican fighters out there. Boxing scene ----- So many great fighters retired Timothy Bradley Wladimir Klitschko Tyson Fury JMM
One of the modern greats. Incredible heart, brings it every time. Memorable quadrilogy with Pac that will etched in boxing fans' mind for ages. Enjoy your retirement Champ!
JMM retired the day after Wlad hangs up his gloves (or was it the same day?). JMM's brother Rafael's last ever fight was on 07-09-2013, Wlad's brother Vitali's was on on 08-09-2012. Two of the greatest and most successful boxing brother teams of all time, arguably #1 and #2 JMM was a superb fighter and he had a great career. Definitely feels like the end of an era what with him, Wlad, and Bradley all deciding to call it a day.
Tip of the cap to Marquez. Wladimir, Marquez, Bradley, Guerrero, Uchiyama, Miura, Malignaggi... lots of huge retirements this year.
He schooled a Wladmir Klitschko that's 1.5 years younger than the one who gave Anthony Joshua all he could handle.
Sad, he was a brilliant fighter but I'm a bit annoyed he didn't give Pac a rematch after all of the times Pac gave him a rematch, but then again KTFO6 is decisive. So glad to see he achieved Greatness when in his early career we saw him being ducked and cast aside as a high risk, low reward type of fighter. This was a man who turned professional in 1993 and was from the Barrera, Morales, Hamed era. I don't like having excuses for losses, but his losses had significant back stories: - He was robbed by Freddie Norwood - Robbed by Chris John but still kept going - Although I feel he lost the first fight, his fights were ultimately even with a GOAT level fighter in Pacquiao, KTFO6 finished the rivalry although it's widely argued he abused PED's. - Lost to Mayweather, one of the best, in a circus act fight due to weight difference - Past prime obviously by the time he fought Timothy Bradley The retiree list of 2017 will also include Mayweather and Pacquiao.
Yes, he schooled Klitschko, it was a masterful performance in a fight that didn't require superior athleticism to win, making it even more impressive given Wlad's age. It doesn't make Fury great, but it does make him a brilliant fighter. I don't want to talk about it here, its about JMM.
I mean c'mon. The guy hasn't fought in THREE YEARS! That should tell you he is pretty much retired. I guess when there are folks like Mikey Garcia and Andre Ward who regularly fight once every 2 years some of you don't know if they are retired or having "promotional issues".
Overrated. Without the PAC fights the rest of his resume would not get him into the HOF. With PAC he had one roided win in 4 tries. Could not handle boxers. Could not fight on the outside. Average power. Literally needed someone to come straight to him to score a blow. Completely embarrassed by Floyd. Got a gift against Barrera.
Great fighter but became annoying near the end. Should have gave pacman the rematch. Also looked ridiculously roided for the pacman ko6.
