He is an idiot and too scared to fight AJ prime-for-prime. He needs to be past prime to fight him so he can have an excuse for losing.

As far as being mentally tough; he stood within punching range of Pac for their four fights so he had the opportunity to counter him. Think about that - standing in range of a faster, harder-hitting opponent who he knew could hurt him, just to maximise his chances of winning. After a few straight-lefts from Pac, most fighters would have abandoned that plan and started boxing on the back-foot. He couldn't, and wouldn't, be discouraged.

Never in a dull fight. He struggled against 2 prime, undefeated fighters in Norwood and John like anyone would both were hard to beat at the time, but Marquez started putting clinics on both during the 2nd half of both fights and deserved the wins. He also faced the best and most dangerous fighters from each division he climbed, he never took the easy way. Against Pacman, JMM made one of the greatest comebacks of all time and an unforgettable rivalry was born. He fought every version of Pacquiao through out the years and proved everytime the invincible Pacman, tho a great fighter, was not unbeatable. Most think Jmm beat Pacman by decision, 2 time, but kept getting robbed so threw his well placed and timed prolific combination counter punching out the window in place of well placed and timed bombs to either kill or be killed in the 4th and final fight and provided the greatest, most significant ko in the last 20 yrs. Fistic justice was served and one of the greatest rivalries of all time brutally ended.

To all those whining about Marquez not giving Pac the "rematch", only reason there was a 2nd, 3rd and 4th fights was due to amount of criticism Pac got for getting those bogus wins. He was never able to decisively get a win from Marquez with out the judge's(or Arum) assistance.

    But "it's only business" right?

Marquez got a definitive win with KTFO6, no rematch needed.

Yeah, but what did he do apart from that  And why it's a bad thing that he fought a great fighter like Pac on (at worst) even terms 3 times before knocking him out is a mystery to me.

Anyone who doesn't recognize JMM's greatness has an agenda.

Didn't get to watch most of his fights live but I enjoyed all of his fights a lot. Reminded me a lot of my older brother with his character in the ring. Wish Marquez nothing but the best going forward. :star:

He fought everybody even the great Barrera he was not a welter fighting big guys like Bradley and Floyd, definitely Pac and him were pure adrenaline fights if you star boxing watching his video would be a plus.

He was too small for guys like Bradley but he still put up a great effort.

Watching JMM and Finito Lopez is as close as you can get to watching a boxing textbook come to life.
