I dont think he should have he was coming off a big streak a KO over Diaz and Casamayor he should have followed up with a big win. That would give him a huge draw power and maybe get Pac interested. Now he lost disappeared and last iheard is back to square one rematching Diaz. He is now older on a layoff and has an embarrassing loss on his record. Maybe not the best idea
He probably thought it would be easy going up since he beat Pac and Pac made it look SO easy against a legend in Dela Hoya. Well...
he souldn't have, but as they say, things look better in hindsight. i think jmm had no choice but to face mayweather. GBP got the fight for him, it was for a ton of money, and it was a chance to 1-up pacquiao. all three are great reasons IMO. however, he should have lobbied harder the weight issue. he basically let mayweather outweigh him for some money. and any glimmer of hope jmm had coming into that fight vanished when mayweather came in heavier than him. he shouldn't have, yes. but did he really have a choice? i think not.
You contradict yourself? Marquez should'nt have let Mayweather outweigh him.....an then you go on to say he had no choice in the matter. The only people that could have stopped Mayweather from coming heavy was Shafaer and GBP, but they had a future interest in Mayweather so they did'nt pursue that issue.....they basically let Mayweather call the shot to come in heavier than the contracted weight limit if he wished. Marquez did'nt have a choice on the matter. After brutalizing his body to get heavier, you think he had a choice to pack up and leave without financial compensation??? I think not. He took the best money fight available to him, and that was Mayweather. Marquez made the right call imo because he was'nt going to make anywhere's near that kind of money fighting anyone else, and that included Manny Pacroid. Marquez should be applauded for testing his limits.....very few fighters have the balls to do the same.
