Quintana was in Boston at that time while Marquez was in the Mexican capital and this writer was in Manila. Marquez, who meets Pacquiao in a rematch on March 15 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, said he is very focued on winning the scheduled 12-rounder. "I am not thinking about losing and even retirement. It's not even on my mind. I am going to win this fight," said Marquez, 34, the underdog although he is the reigning World Boxing Council super-featherweight king and is best remembered for engaging the 29-year-old Filipino lefty to a split draw in May 2004. Marquez added: "It's going to be a different Juan Manuel Marquez (Pacquiao will face) on March 15." Quintana, meanwhile, said he spent two weeks recently with Marquez and the progress of the preparations was "excellent." "We don't count the number of rounds," said Quintana. "We focus on strategy." Marquez spars daily, according to Quintana, against Rafael Hernandez of Venezuela, Eusebio Osejo of Nicaragua and Norio Kimura of Japan. Marquez trains everyday at the Romanza Gym in Mexico City and heads to the mountains of Toluca for endurance training during weekends. Pacquiao also regularly works out at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California, under the watchful eyes of Freddie Roach.
I'm still going with PAC but I agree I think JMM is focused and determined which is not good for PAC. But the ability and natrual talent PAC has should still be enough to beat JMM convincingly. We'll see who is the man come fight night.
