    Which showing impressed you more?

Gatti was always B level, tough as hell, but B level

Diaz was unbeaten, outworking and outlasting everyone who stepped up, let alone an old guy like Marquez

Mayweather was at the peak of his powers that night, but against a guy who had not a hope in hell

Marquez, old, soaked up a tremendous tirade, while constantly working away with soild shots wherever he could fnd them, es to the body

Floyd landed a emorable 5 hit combo on Gatti

The way JMM put Diaz away was artistry of the highest order

That uppercut he went to throw..... then pulled back, before selecting a different punch, is almost as memorable as KTFO6

Gatti was a shot B level fighter who got an opportunity because he beat another old shot fighter who got that opportunity for beating Panchito Bojado. Anyone who knew Panchito Bojado knows that he had all the skill in the world, true skill, but lacked heart, no heart.

So you're saying Floyd's 8 punch combo masterclass on Gatti was better than Marquez' patient going through hell eventually breaking down Diaz?

    Diaz > Gatti

    Nuff said :smoke

As far as the 8 punch combo... Oscar De La Hoya has a similar display against Yori Boy Campas, and it also includes a 15 punch combo, yet I would never use it to prove how great of a fight of masterclass it was, because, well, you know, it's an old fighter who had zero chance, similar to the old shot fighter in Gatti that Mayweather fought.

Its become such an underrated win

    Marquez ruined prime Diaz

    Ruined him

Diaz - who previously had the world on his shoulders - went on to accomplish very little after that, his best accomplishment was to go the distance with JMM in their rematch

All Marquez' fights in that division were masterclasses in one way or another - an old warrior who refuses to be beat and finds a way, not only to win, but to KO

This has to be a joke ,

,auweather beating Gatti shouldn't even be worth talking about considering so many people beat up on him already ..Like someone said before Delahoya beats Gatti it's a throw away fight Floyd beats him it's one of his best performances

And JMM vs Diaz Diaz was never elite he just had a few good wins why anyone would try to elevate this more than it was is beyond me

Not sure anyone is attempting to elevate Diaz more tha he should be, but lets look at his resume:

    JUAN DIAZ
    10 succesful Title fights
    3 time world champion
    Unified LW champion

    Dominant Wins over:

    Acelino Freitas
    Julio Diaz
    Jose Miguel Cotto

All this while being a chubby Lightweight and a full time student.

Elite at his weight and at the time IMO. He was the man at LW until JMM decided to move up and reap havoc.

    ARTURO GATTI
    7 Succesful Title fights
2 time world champion (second time was a farce)

6 losses, KTFO twice, and pretty much shot by the time Mayweather fought him.

Goes to show how weak Floyd's resume is. When his fans talk about victories over shot B level fighters.

Diaz was NOT unbeaten. Why can't guys check their facts before coming up with threads? It's not hard to look things up on Wiki or box rec.

It was more a comparison of the masterclass each ATG put on

From what i gather Floyds masterclass was against a far weaker opponent than Juan's (oooooh the shock)

Maybe not the best, the best, the best, the best of threads, but hopefully it makes people remember a classic fight between the king of the division, and the old warrior moving up to ply his trade in a new division, while ultimately hunting Pacquao down

This is when I started becoming a huge fan of Marquez'.

Those fights he had with the Baby bull and Kastidis at LW were some of the greatest fights I've seen from him. They were such classic wars.

Floyd's fight against Gatti was a masterpiece. It was a one sided demolition against a guy who didn't deserve to share the ring with him. Marquez' fights were wars that had a good ebb and flow to them.

I respect Diaz for what he did no question but he was never on Marquez level that's why I didn't hold that win in such high regard ..

Floyd beating Gatti was nothing special ,Gatti was also never on Floyd's league or many boxers for that matter ..
