Though both are very good fighters, neither really has much of a fan base. It's quite easy to imagine only a few thousand people buying tickets to this fight July 18. And the PPV #s could be horrific. Marquez is totally unproven as a draw while floyd's biggest #s came from piggybacking off of Oscar and Hatton. They even piggybacked announcing the fight the day of Pacquiao v Hatton. floyd is not an attractive personality nor a crowdpleaser as a fighter. Marquez is a warrior but the general sports fan doens't know much about him. Golden Boy and HBO have their work cut out to hype up this event. Something says this fight could be a financial disaster.

I've been thinkin the same thing since I first heard about this, neither fight is much of a draw by themselves, they're gonna have to give away tickets to get people to see this 1, and it definately shouldn't be on PPV either, though that should go without saying

That was 2 years ago. He just came out of retirement. I think the fight with Pacman is the one people want to see. Although I am saying JMM does not have a chance, Floyd does need a tuneup for Pacman and JMM serves that purpose of being a good tuneup fight.

Him coming out of retirement only will help boost the numbers. 24/7 is being done for this too, this fight does nothing less than 500k.

If it is on PPV it'll do numbers Floyd is celebrated and hated...and Marquez has a good latin following.

Where have you been? We have a recession. Floyds not on anyones mind now when one think of Boxing. Boxing did great w/o him for a couple of years.

Id be shocked if this did more than the Baldo fight

Your a ****ing hater it ain't a recession for nobody who ain't never had anything to begin with....and if people bought the Baldo fight why wouldn't they pay to see Marquez whose a way smarter and talented fighter...a ****ing hater!!!

Oh and nobody in the world of boxing has ever stopped talking about Floyd Mayweather....his name has come up constantly and consistently for the last 2 years after every big fight between 135-160....

This fight is going to sell ok. I see 300K + buys. You have to remember he is the hope for all Mexicans now.

I always found it quite funny that Floyd said the main reason the DLH and Hatton fights did so well was because of him. Well if this fight doesn't get no where near those numbers hopefully it will humble him a bit.

This fight will sell well. Floyd is a household name now and JMM will do nothing but benefit from this Pac win.

why should it humble him? Mayweather brought Ricky and Oscar career high paydays and PPV buys if I did my research correctly.
