I dont know about that. he had one fight above 135, at 147, for the very first time, against one of the best fighters in years, who was competing at his natural weight. i'm sure nacho takes all of those factors into consideration when deciding if juan manuel is capable of fighting well above 135. also, why would he sidestep michael katsidis and possibly lose his lightweight strap for fights that arent even guaranteed?

Not everyone can jump weight classes, and last time JMM tried it he didn't look so good. The man is already probably pushing it fighting at 135 weight wise, and now suddenly he's supposed to go and fight monsters at 140 and even WW. I want to see JMM fighting at the peak of his abilities, not chasing dollars at weights he can't effectively carry.

Maidana KO'ing JMM would be a goddam travesty and a crime against nature, all because JMM is forced to go up in weight to get paid. It sucks.

Maidana is too big and strong for JMM. but we all know that JMM can turn around a fight into his favor. Interesting fight i must say. and it'll be a good boost to PAC/JMM III should he win.

Jmm on points. Maidana would look useless.

    FOTY candidate for sure

I say Marquez beats him via UD...and later goes on to fight his last fight....against Morales...in what could also be a FOTY between two ATGs

    and retires as a badass

    Maidana by brutal KO.:deal

One fight too far for JMM it's all very well beating the Diaz's and Katsidis's but Maidana is a beast and a level above katsidis for sure.

JMM would never ever fight him at this stage of his career anyway so....

Look out for Maidana to be avoided by everyone from now on.

Cant blame them for shitting bricks at the thought of fighting Maidana after watching that Khan fight.

Kats came in at 154 on fight night... Dude was so careful in not doing what Diaz did and he still got ****ed up... JMM is a master mind... JAJA

I think some are underrating JMM and Over Rating Maidana... IMO maidana is just another fighter that JMM would demolish because of styles, the BODY shots will be to much for Maidana the thing with the recent JMM is he knows he cannot knock someone out with just head shots so he works on the body all night long and then when the guy is weak he releases the combinations... Dude is so Smart..... at 37 We should not even be considering this, JMM should be in Hawaii sipping pina coladas, but he is so great that at his age he is still giving us good fights and is still an elite fighter and a world class fighter, JMM is EPIC!

    Marquez TKO 9...

Maidana is not a beast, he does not pressure you... He just chases you around the ring like a mummy hoping for one of his hands of stone to land. Kats brought more pressure then Maidana would...

Maidana would be eating body shots and combos all night long until the TKO... JMM probably get stunned or taste the canvas at some point but thats the button Maidana should not press because that releases a JMM he does not want to see....:good

I think JMM even at this point is prone to getting dropped, but he does great with fighters that stay in front of him or want to go toe to toe. Maidana is obviously the harder puncher, but JMM would be countering him and do to Maidana's equally or worse defense than JMM, it's going to be one JMM thudding shot after the other. I think Maidana will have success in the early rounds, but JMM weathers Maidana's best shots. Either Maidana wins by TKO or JMM by decision. JMM doesn't have Khan's speed or power, but he does usually turn the momentum in the middle rounds. I'd favor JMM for now. He is too smart for Maidana who is more brawns than brain.

A JMM vs. Kotelnik fight would be a very good technical fight especially for those that like the sweet science.

Marquez is very hittable and battered even against a bum and loser Katsidis who was KO by very old and lackluster Casamayor and beaten by diaz who had 5 loses on his last 6 fights...Both Casa and diaz lost to Marquez and still Marquez fought a loser Katsidis...What Marquez gained fighting a loser Katsidis??NOTHING......
