Over at the scene. I'm not sure how accurate the translation is from his original words since I doubt that he thinks he can match Pac's power or speed, but it says he supposedly wants to match his punch and handspeed, by means of his medical team. He says he expects it to be the toughest fight for both of them of the series, and that he's going to win for mexico and fight hard to give the fans what they want. If JMM gains weight well and becomes more offensive without being careless, this may prove true, even if he loses. As long as JMM doesn't go crazy with these new medical team and ballet techniques and whatnot, and it helps him, then more power to him in maximizing his physical capabilities.

...Could JMM possibly be looking for a stoppage on cuts? That's actually one of his best shots IMO. Go for the most accurate shots on & around his eye and throw them frequently. That scar tissue is there.

Pacman showed in his fight against Mosley that he still struggles against counter punchers or people who aren't coming forward. JMM is the ultimate counter puncher. JMM is going to land a lot of flush shots on Pacman, i have no doubt. But he'll still lose.

JMM needs to drink 1 drum of his pee pee in order to match pac speed and power.

I highly doubt JMM is planning on gaining any unnecessary weight. He's just going to come in as his normal self.

Well for sure it will be the best version of Pac he will have faced. Only fitting, to see if his style can be as effective against Pac at his best weight. Pac faced him at JMM's best weights in their first two fights (rematch being more neutral). Can't wait for this fight, I hope Marquez can put up a great fight again

Pacquiao didn't struggle against Mosley at all. Pacquiao won every round with ease against Mosley. The fact that the fight wasn't entertaining is not the same as Pac not being effective. Pac was unable to make the fight against Mosley entertaining, but he was able to utterly dominate his opponent and win with ease.

JMM will stand and fight more than Shame Mosley did. And he will get stopped, like Shame would have if he stood and fought more.

Yeah, he did dominate but he didn't look good either. And yeah, most of that had to do with Mosley running. But at the same time, Pacquiao's foot speed didn't seem as fast and he just didn't look as good as in prior fights. He was fighting a lot more amateurish like in years past. Just lunging in and not having his feet under him. Maybe it had to do with him not fearing Mosley that much but that was still the case.

JMM will have moments. He will counter Pacquiao and he will land his share of hard shots. But he will still lose.

Why does JMM make you so insecure?? Any thread containing him and Pac comes to this.
    Its getting old.

Pacquiao was not moving laterally against Mosley, and it's his movement that makes him a special fighter. The only way I can explain this is by believing Pac when he said he suffered leg cramps during the fight.

Marquez would never run like a ***** like Mosley did. He'll be trying to win the fight, not only trying to avoid getting stopped. There will be fireworks, I agree that Marquez will land some good shots, but Pacquiao's chin will take them easily, and Marquez will fall to the firepower.

Yup, he was mostly a straight line, in and out fighter against Mosley. Very little side to side movement. Very little use of the right hook and not really setting anything up. Just lunging in predictably. Maybe the leg cramps. Maybe the opponent. Maybe lost a step. But he didn't look very good in this fight.

JMM is a very good counter puncher. Maybe not the ultimate counter puncher like Floyd.

But the point is, Pacquiao does a lot better against come forward fighters rather than counter punchers.

Someone who fights in Manny's style, is so reliant on his physical gifts, and has had so many fights and so many wars, is going to age earlier than the average cat. The Marquez fight will be a good barometer of whether Pac-Mosley was a one-off due to leg cramps and a running opponent, or whether the great man is in serious decline. I tend to think it'll be the former, because Pac's feint and shot to drop Mosley showed he still had the skill and the power, I just think he didn't have the movement to get into good striking positions that night.

I think he's lost a small step. I think the Pacquiao that fought Cotto/Hatton would've gotten to Mosley.

Sadly, I think it's likely that he has indeed lost a step from the 2009 monster. But I won't say it with any certainty until I see how he goes against Marquez. Pacquiao said he was suffering leg cramps and he doesn't lie IMO, so that must have played a part.
