I was so glad when barrera fought Marquez, I said to myself finally JMM got a title chance, he was always on the shadows and it end up being a great fight, to bad Barrera was on the way out
Marquez the fight would be easy but both would make some good money if Morales looks good against Alfaro... this fight comes too late to be anything beyond a grudge match
This would've been great if it happened years ago, but it would be depressing to watch now. The fight would either be between a fighter who's completely finished and a world class guy, or between two guys who are done (depending on when the fight takes place). Right now JMM would beat Erik up and I don't want to see that. I don't even think he'll win his comeback bout at WW.
How bout this: Morales Vs Alfararo/ JMM vs Hatton/ Winner VS Winner Winner Vs Valero Valero would be more proven by then and would be a great fight to go out in a bang.
I disagree! Unless Morales looks good against a good fighter, then I cant justify having this fight made, simply for the reason that I'd hate to see Morales get crushed. It would be a bull**** chapter that would close. The same kind of chapter in Lewis' resume of having Mike Tyson on his resume. Thats ridiculous.....Lewis did not fight Mike Tyson, but the remnants of Mike Tyson....a 233 lbs hasbeen who's prime had long been passed, and who's prime fighting weight had always been fighthing under 220 lbs. .......and this is coming from a huge JMM fan who's opinion is that Morales would have been too slow without enough stamina to handle Marquez even at his prime.
You're preaching to the choir. JMM has been my favorite boxer since the chanel 9 (KCAL) days and always believed he could have taken El Terrible. However, even though this fight would probably have little relevance in the PFP scheme of things it would be great to see JMM or EM get a chance at a 4th title in as many divisions. It would be a very fun fight to watch. Again, this all depends on how good Morales looks!
Jesus, I hope a try at a 4 title does'nt come against eachother for a bogus title in a situation where one of them would emerge as the first Mexican fighter in history to win a 4th. That sounds so much how someone like Ray Leonard or Oscar DLH would do to bogusly and shamelessly pad their resume. I'd soon enough rather see JMM fail against a legit title holder like Bradley, than win against Morales for some bogus vacant title.
This fight has crossed most of our minds, but El Terrible better be hiding some muscle under that suite, because he looks out of shape in the press pics.
Exactly what I was thinking. Morales before he retired vs JMM would be good, but NOW??? Not worth it.
Morales had said before that he wants Marquez, and I think that if he looks good enough, it will be a fight worth seeing, and it will close the bridge between the 4 fighters. Marquez will destroy him, but Morales is respected enough to be given a second chance I think. Who knows, lets wait and see, I just want Marquez to kick some ass before he retires.
I'd rather watch Marquez while he's still capable fighting real competition instead of waisting his time fighting hasbeens in matchups that should have happened years ago.
