Then you must be a brit. no offense but unless you are very biased towards Hatton there is no way in hell you can have Hatton ahead of Marquez.
Yes there is... Marquez lost to Chris John then collected some nice wins at 126. He moved up to face Barrera and won the WBC at 130. You can easily say Hatton's wins over Tszyu (who was ranked higher P4P at the time Hatton beat him than Barrera was when Marquez beat him), Maussa, Collazo, Urango, and Castillo surpass Marquez's wins.
Bingo. Hatton has that massive win over Tszyu and a nice 4th round KO over old Castillo. JMM has that loss to Chris John, and his best victory was a slightly controversial win against old MAB. JMM's best accomplishment is arguably his draw with Pacquiao
marquez, if ricky beats either floyd or cotto then he jumps ahead of marquez. if kostya or castillo would have come back from the loss and still performed at the highest levels then it would be no question that ricky is ahead, but that is not the case.
Based on resume, I would say that Hatton edged JMM a bit, however, based on fans' conceived talent (P4P favors those that box or technical rather than those who slug), I think JMM has the nod.
interesting to see this in hindsight. 78% of people rated JMM above Hatton before Hatton got owned by pbf.
Wins and losses must be looked at in perspective though. I watched the Marquez Johns fight and thought Marquez clearly won. Hatton's win over Tszyu was fantastic, but let's not forget it was Tszyu's last ever fight. Castillo looked old, wasn't being paid for fighting and for me, he just stayed down after the bodyshot. Marquez is clearly the better, more skillful fighter.
Hatton not the best guy even in England, Witter more likely is. JMM looks like better pound for pound. But Hatton management is pound for pound best out there They are planed Hatton carrier perfectly, of course Ricky did his part too, but his management did right things avoiding guys like Witter. And matching Ricky with old but very highly regarded Kostia Tzue was great move.
