Ok recently i have heard rumours going around about this being a potential future match up. A lot of my opinion will be based on Hattons next performance but personally i cant see JMM winning this match? JMM looked extremely impressive in his last fight at 135 lbs and didnt seem to have any trouble going up in weight, but is it just me who thinks that was a poor casamayor he thought? also the fight would have to be at 140 minimum which would mean JMM again has to move up in weight to Hattons most comfortable weight, despite the fact that JMM is far more an elite fighter then hatton ever has been, hes fought better competition and P4P theres only one winner but against a much bigger stronger hatton who will most probably(depending how much he has left) pressurise JMM for 12 rounds, could JMM carry the power up to that weight, enough to hurt hatton and keep him off? I doubt it. i see a hatton victory after about 10 rounds, and i wouldnt be surprised if the fight was very even at the time of the stoppage. Thoughts?
Marquez one way or another, he is Hatton's perfect nemesis. If I was betting I'd go for the stoppage.
hatton stoppage.. marquez is an ordinary fighter - overhyped, hes fought BUMS hes whole career including pacman - they aint bums on paper, but they aint nothing special, people like casamayor n barerra people think they are great..to the ordinary boxing fan they are.. but compared to the calibre of fighter like mayweather they aint ****.. hatton murders these kids.. including pacman, he'd **** the pair of them up at the same time.. it'd be like two midgets trying to take down a horse, they'd be getting kicked about no1 would be even thinking about a marquez win prior to the mayweather fight
great fight that i hope happens,2 of my favourite fighters,it'd be a tough fight for both,style-wise jmm could have a slight advantage but ill have to see jmm fight at 140 1st b4 i can make a definitive pick, ill side with hatton at the minute by sd due to size.50/50 fight tho imo.
Hatton murders who exactly? Pacquiao and Marquez are better than everybody on his resume, other than Mayweather who knocked his wrestling ass out. He hasn't been murdering anybody decent.
whenever you think of marquez vs hatton i know in your head you look at the mayweather fight.. the mayweather fight has no significance to the marquez fight coz marquez in a million years wont do what mayweather did
He'd fight the same type of strategy as Mayweather. He's not as strong inside as Mayweather, but the overall gameplan is the same. Counter him as he wades in with no defence. That is Marquez's game.
Marquez isn't as fast as Mayweather though - but I see your point. Would be an interesting encounter, lets not rule it out as both men are GBP fighters.
yea it might be marquez game but it dont mean it'd work out for him.. floyd wernt just countering him from the outside he was doing all sorts or stuff to keep hatton off him, tieing him up, managing to always keep his arms free, elbowing, ducking down.. can marquez throw lead right hands from distance? nooooo... can he fight running backwards constantly? nooo.. marquez is not ordinary but very conventional.. what u see is what u get.. hattons the same but to a little teeny weeny lightweight like marquez you need more than just boxing skills.. hes not showing anything special, there aint no true god given talents about him.. hes a tough little mexican kid.. thats it the only thing marquez can do is go forward an fight from the center of the ring using boxing skills, marquez fights dont involve that much contact, its a pure boxing match.. the best boxer will win.. its all about throwing punches.. its your typical boxing match. he wouldnt be preapred for the sort of fight hatton would bring its a mismatch..
I think Hatton would find Marquez is pretty quick on his feet having been a featherweight. He tends to stand his ground more rather than run and get on his bike like Mayweather, so Hatton has a better chance in that respect, and in that Marquez is never going to be Mayweather for physical strength and in the pocket. It's still going to look bad for Hatton when he ineffectively closes distance, and the precise counters of Marquez pepper him with ease. And he definitely has the power, we saw that against Casa. At the end of the day, Skill > Size unless its a ridiculous mismatch. It's been proven through history. If there is enough of a class difference, it won't matter.
lets see marquez last ten rounds with mayweather.. you dont understand the eaze of which mayweather would handle marquez.. then after you've watched that fight you'd be saying different things.. thats your whole reason for picking marquez, so lets see how well marquez does against mayweather, i bet he wouldnt even land one punch
Actually, its more to do with Marquez having the perfect style, Hatton being a wrestler that is past his peak and nearly knocked out by Juan Lazcano, another former lightweight. Apart from that, spot on.
id picka younger Hatton to over whelm and over power the smaller Marquez, but I think JMM could edge Hatton over 12 now. I also picking Paulie to beat Hatton, thats how much i think he has faded.
(1) Baileys, you have very high standards if you think Marquez is ordinary. (2) If anything Marquez has been under-hyped and under-rated for the majority of his career. He has always been seen as a danger man, but it is only in the last few years that he has gained the big fights and recognition he deserves. (3) You are talking about the P-4-P world no.1 (Pac) and no.2/3 (Marquez). Our sport is in serious **** if our premier fighter, in any division, is a BUM. BTW, Hatton has never been ranked as high on the P-4-P list as were Marquez is placed now, and in addition Marquez has been in the top ten on a more consistent business. He's just a better fighter. The only advantage Hatton has in this match is the weight advantage, but that is quite an advantage. I would still lean towards Marquez on points; he has all the tools required to box Hatton for 12 rounds, especially the current version of Hatton.
