as much as i like JMM i think Chavez takes it on a UD JMM would have some moments of sucess with brillaint countering but his stamina these days couldnt keep at chavezs pace for most of rounds and would lose afew on stamina and afew on intelligent pressure from julio
At lightweight Chavez would dominate him. I think he'd knock Marquez out, though I don't say that with complete confidence - Marquez is very tough mentally and won't lie down. At 130 Chavez wins again, though in a close decision most likely, probably 8-4 maybe even 7-5 if he fights the weight drained version (Laporte).
Chavez is too big. If they were the same size, JMM would be a great upset pick... top-notch counterpuncher with great combinations and good power against Chavez' relentless pressure.
Chavez is just too strong and possibly just as good a boxer as Marquez. JCC by UD or late TKO is not out of the possibilities.
Every round would be close but JCC would win the vast majority of them, and maybe even stop JMM late.
just watching the Diaz fight. Diaz is a poor mans JCC and he gave him lots of trouble early on with pressure i still see a chavez UD but the way Marquez was in the 8th round he would make it lose like 7-5 rounds
As much as I love JMM, the Chavez who beat Rosario would defeat JMM convincingly, very possibly by stoppage. Chavez would be too big, too strong, too relentless, too skilled on the inside. It would be a closer fight at 130, though I'd still favour JCC on points.
I think that it is important to consider that Pacquiao, and Diaz, have faster hands than Chavez. Chavez may not be able to land as often on Marquez. Pernell Whitaker may be the only fighter Chavez faced that was as skilled as Marquez. That being said, I still think that Chavez was too strong. Chavez was also not your run of the mill pressure fighter. Chavez would not just rush in and wing shots at Marquez, only to be countered. Chavez used great footwork, and a measured attack. I'd expect Marquez to lead after 6 rounds, but Chavez to take control of the fight in the 2nd half. Chavez by decision
The 87 Chavez breaks JM down and stops him. Prime Chavez was a ****ing MACHINE and at 135 he'd just be way too strong, and relentless for Marquez.
