Age means nothing. Diaz has hit his peak already. He's been champion since he was 20, and has been in his prime for a few years now.

He's not gonna get any better. In fact, after what Marquez did to him, you'll prob see Diaz begin to decline.

Diaz is a good fighter, but he'll never cut it against an elite guy.

He brought his game to a high level for Marquez. But sometimes guys fight the fight on thier lives, and never duplicate it again.

Diaz is what he is. He's never gonna be a great fighter. He wont make any great improvements, quite honestly he doesnt have THAT level of talent, or ability.

If you wanna make an analogy of Diaz, he's Ray Mancini, only w/o Mancini's punch.

Actually.... Vargas was a more talented fighter than Diaz. At least Vargas in his prime only lost to GREAT fighters, and not a guy like Nate Campbell.

I think you're really overrating Juan Diaz.

Agreed. Diaz woulda never gone 14 rounds with Arguello.

Arguello woulda wasted Diaz in under 6 rounds.

And Vargas actually beat some very good fighters like Quartey and Wright. Something Diaz hasn't and won't imo do.

I dunno bout awhile. Guys with Diaz's style dont have long shelf lives. They tend to burn out pretty quickly.

Diaz wasnt blessed with great power, skill, or ability.

He's made mostly on hard work, and tenacity in the ring.

Thats why I compared him to Mancini.

BTW - Frietas was a shell of his prime self when Diaz beat him.

Corrales essentially took all the fighting heart outta Frietas.

JMM would take a vicious beating here, ESPECIALLY if we're talking about a hypothetical LW match-up where Chavez is prime. Chavez would do his best Mike McCallum impression and "snatch" Marquez's body up. Late stoppage or unanimous decision for prime Chavez.
