If JMM really wants pac, he'll hire a lawyer and tell GBP that the 5million dollar-Canelo Offer cannot match the 5M dollar-Pac offer because the Pac offer comes with PPV share. they just need to show Pac's PPV history and Canelo's PPV history(if he has any) and JMM has a strong case. A million PPV buys for Pac-JMM (which is likely, given Pac's history)would give JMM an extra 2 or 3 million dollars. That's what JMM should do if he really wants Pac, just ask Donaire who has the balls to jump promoter at whim. Or JMM can hide behind GBP's right to match the offer even if that offer is as good as in paper but in reality is not at par with the Pac fight. if there's a will, there's a way. and there are excuses
If there are plans to have Pacquiao fight Martinez, they should do that now, forget about Marquez and go straight to Martinez........ .....the problem here lies in that the casual fan does'nt have a clue who Sergio Martinez is.........there is absolutely no way a Martinez fight outsells a Marquez-Pacquiao fight.
**** a title. JMM won't give a **** about a title if it means a shot at Pac at 140. A win over Pac does more for his legacy than a 4th title. Mexican's might even celebrate his victory at a level similar to JCC after Taylor. Not to mention, internationally he would be recognized as the man that beat the man. Big reach, however. A man can dream. :deal
I agree that a Pac-JMM generates more money than Pac-Martinez. However, I think that Pac-JMM would have generated more money than Pac-Mosley. Especially knowing it was going to be on Cinco de Mayo weekend. Not to mention that they have a lot of footage of Pac-JMM I & II to show highlight reels. So my point is: Anything can happen even if it doesn't make much sense.
It would be intrigueing to watch how Marquez would handle a fighter as big as Canelo. A Canelo fight for Marquez would be the equivalent, well probably a little tougher as Canelo is undefeated, but it would be close to Pacquiao being matched with Cotto. .......however since Canelo does'nt have an accomplished resume, a win by Marquez over Canelo does'nt carry the same weight a Pacquiao fight would legacy wise. As a fightfan I'd rather watch Marquez take on Canelo, as I've already witnessed twice Marquez box the pants off of Pacquiao....... ....but legacy wise the Pacquiao fight means so much more, and time is certainly not on Marquez side to postpone a Pacquiao fight to a further date. If the chance is there for Marquez to take on Pacquiao this fall, he's got to take it. I give Marquez an exellent chance against Pacquiao to shock the world, and I'm one that did'nt give Marquez much of a chance vs Mayweather.
I was saying this in the weeks leading to Arum choosing Mosley instead.......the ******* voiced that a Mosley fight would bring more money. ......we're going to find out this coming weekend, as I dont think Pac-Mosley will top 1 million buys..... .....JMM-Pac with its rich history, imo would near 1.5 milllion in buys.
