Richard Schaefer from Golden Boy P. talked about the possibility of this clash happening back in 2008, it would have taken place in Manchester, at 140 lbs, Hatton's natural fighting weight and just a bit below Marquez'. JMM was interested in the fight but nothing came out of it as Hatton chose to retire.

So, the guy who got squashed/retired by Pac vs the guy who's arguably beaten Pac 3 times already.

personally, I think JMM would have whopped Hatton's ass and stopped him in the late rounds, who agrees?

Late rounds? This doesn't go past 6. Marquez by brutal TKO. Marques will land punch after punch after...

at this point in his career, hatton was past it. He made a wise choice retireing. However a prime hatton vs a prime marquez at 140 would of been epic! I would actually go for a prime hatton to win a bloody war.

Well, I've heard Hatton's fans claiming he was this unbeatable monster at 140 lbs..

plus I see Marquez at disadvantage here if the fight goes to decission, he'd probably need to do to Hatton what Pac did in order to win.

Rushing in face-first is not a smart thing to implement against Juan Manuel Marquez.

It took mayweather eternity to KO Hatton and *****s are saying Mayweather is twice better than JMM.

It took Pac 2 rounds to KO Hatton and JMM fans are saying JMM is better than Pac.

But then again, it took a much limited Juan Diaz or Katsidis several rounds to be KOed against JMM too.

PreFloyd it woulda been epic. Probably Hatton dropping JMM once with a mammoth left hook, but then JMM turning the tied and the uppercut landing repeatedly as Hatton didn't know how to box back then. He would just run into JMM's shots getting stopped late. Post Floyd or Pacquiao, maybe half the time. Like someone else mentioned, vs an elite he would be target practice.

Hatton is no Katsidis (although that's how the fight would look), but I do say it'd be a close match

If ricky doesn't get knocked out and can handle **** drinker's combo's then he does something no one has ever done before and stops **** drinker with a left hook, to the body

In addition, especially if it were at Manchester and it wen't to the cards, no way does **** drinker walk away with a W, but then again, **** drinker doesn't ever get the call anyways so whatever

Can't definitively submit a comfortable pick, tbh.

Prime Hatton would have give JMM fits with his constant pressure. Though JMM does have good footwork, he's not nearly quick enough on his feet to be able to merely rely on mobility to create any space from the attacking Hatton.

On the other hand, Hatton would have to be willing eat cominations in order to collapse distance and get inside on JMM, (and he would because he doesn't know otherwise.) How long his face (which is prone to cuts) is able to hold together might play a key role in the outcome.

I'd expect both guys to be bloodied and battered in a FOTY type of war.

This is a tough one. Marquez is certainly more skilled, but he hasn't shown to have knock out power at 140. In reality Marquez prime was at 126, so at 140 Hatton was certainly in his prime, Marquez bloated, old, but skilled. I'd favor Marquez to win a close decision.

    I love both fighters

Hatton gets so criminally under rated on this site its crazy

that said i think Juan's ring IQ and punch accuracy coupled with Hatton's lack of head movement may spell disaster

after Floyd beat him Roach and Manny saw that he never moved his head and pumped his gloves while punching, this is something i think the legendary Nach would have pointed out too

However Hatton demolished a great boxer in Malinaggi

this has great fight written all over it

also to be noted Juan Diaz another guy who is face first and has a nasty left hook wobble Marquez and found himself ahead at the midway point

    this one can be interesting
