Does the same he did to Diaz.
Uppercut to the chin and Hatton will fall.

there is just one issue, JMM's chin is not stellar

    Very hard pick.

Marquez with superior (but slower) footwork, up against Hatton's superior footspeed (but not so great footwork, in comparison to Marquez). Not sure Marquez has carried the power up to stop a charging Hatton, but I am no doubt confident that his timing and stinging shots could keep Hatton from simply walking through everything (at that point in his career).

Marquez has trouble early, kind of like the Diaz bout, but even more so. Hatton would be more relentless, but at the same time thinking about his attacks more. Hatton would be working the body at every opportunity, possibly slowing Marquez down. But once Marquez gets that timing, and starts unleashing those combinations...it will make this bout very interesting, it depends how long it takes Marquez to weather the storm and find his punching.

Like I said, very interesting match-up, neither being stopped...close on the cards.

Now let's say this bout happened closer to Marquez's best weight (as in Hatton was at the weight, not draining down to Marquez's weight). Marquez TKO/KO.

yup it would be epic alright...epic brutal ko for jmm...hatton would catch those combos all night....

  5. Marquez is all wrong for him.

Hatton's main strengths were his ability to close the distance and draw the lead from the opponent by having his gloves level with his chin, before leaping in with the left hook and working the uppercut on the inside.

Despite possessing a decent right hand he hardly ever used it.

Marquez would probably fight Hatton in a similar way to how Hopkins fought Pavlik, circling to the right and firing in short right hand lead shots that Hatton would take on his way in, then work the left uppercut as he did so successfully against Diaz.

Hatton relied too much on his strength at the top level, instead of working on his boxing skills.... the Tszyu win really went to his head.

What, like Floyd did? People **** on Hatton on here constantly, but he was beaten twice by the two best fighters at the peak of their powers.

I'd actually favour Hatton in this one as he can close JMM down easily, cut the ring off and avoid the lead rights on the way in. If you watch the FMJ fight he was slipping the jab and the straight until his stamina started to run out. This wasn't even the best version of Hatton either.

Styles make fights and prime Hatton can get inside without taking much on the way in and bust JMM up on the inside. JMM is NO FMJ when it comes to smart infighting, isn't as big, as fast or hit as hard.

In 2008 I'd of picked JMM, too sharp and more offensive minded than his earlier days, Hatton's punch resistance had declined and Marquez would of busted him up with great combination punching.

If we shoot back to 2005 Hatton, I'd of picked him. He'd of physically bullied JMM, and the key factor would be Ricky's foot speed and how quickly he could close the distance. (Hatton had VERY quick feet.) Ricky maul Marquez, who would have success countering off the ropes, but eventually, Hatton's body attack wears him down for me.

Marquez would do what he did against Diaz and Katsidis, people make those out to be close fights but he pretty much won every round in all 3 fights before knocking them both out. Hatton would swing wildly, miss, come in with no guard and get countered silly time and again, until he got knocked out late.

The only reason Mayweather-Hatton went into the 10th was because of all the wrestling from Hatton, after that fight Hatton changed trainer and stopped wrestling but still had no defence

Floyd dont throw in combinations like Marquez. Hatton is wide open, this is easy nights work for Marquez.

JMM KO late rounds and it'll be a very good fight expect hatton in his prime to do better than katsidis did

I Also pick jmm to beat cotto and ortiz

I disagree with Cotto, he punches too heavy and when he finds rythm he can Box behind his Jab, not a good matchup for Marquez.

Current Marquez that went up in weight the right way vs prime Hatton would have been a foty candidate i think.
I do think Marquez would stop him though, even though Mayweather might be better Marquez throws about twice as much with the same accuracy.

Hatton would eat a ridiculous amount of punishment and gets stopped late i think.

It wasn't an easy pick for me, more like 50/50. I just feel that if they get to fight at 147 marquez could squeak out a close UD
