At what ranking do people cut a certain fighter off his weight class' ATG list? Only the top 10 ATG of his divison are recognized? Only the top 15? The top 20 all time? :think
fans like you are so ****ing irritating, Just because a fighter lose a fight doesent mean he's overrated. When sugar ray robinson lost to lamotta, was he overrated?? and had been exposed? Hell no
One of the worst threads ever. How can he be "overrated" when he gave Pac the toughest fights ever?, if anything JMM is CLEARLY underrated and has been all his career. I don't think the boxing public would have Pac as #1 P4P if he was overrated nor will they have Marquez P4P#2. The "shot" fighters is nonsense too started by delusional people. Barrera WASN'T shot the first time he met Pac, Morales wasn't shot in his TWO fights with Pac either. Only the third fight I'll agree Morales was past it and whatever he had left he used in their rematch and was totally damaged after that. DLH might have been past it but that's NOT an excuse, he was a HUGE favorite going in and had ALL the advantages a shot fighter could ask for to even things up. Hatton wasn't shot either, didn't he beat Malignaggi who clearly beat and got robbed against Juan Diaz recently?, he didn't just beat him but destroyed him. Reason why Hatton hit the canvas is because Pac proved he had power, it was PAC'S FAULT these guys losses not THEIR fault. If they were past it they wouldn't take on him. Now the Cotto fight is coming up and still I see some losers try their best to make that look like a fight against a shot fighter as well. Either appreciate him or go watch another sport, he's our #1 fighter right now.
jmm is one of the best fighters south of 140. wrong premise of a thread really. but come on people, how can you expect a career 126/130 fighter to be competitive to someone who naturally belongs to 147?
For the record here, I have clearly stated in the past that Marquez started a very slow decline even before his Pacquiao fights...... I've stated in the past that the Marquez who twice whooped Pacquiao was not prime. .....he has lost a little bit with each weight climb, but at the very least the fighters he was fighting were not outweighing him by 10+ pounds....... .....though there has been some decline in Marquez in recent years, its not significant enough where he's not going to compete or even beat most of these fighters at 135 lbs or even 140 lbs...... ......lets not forget who Marquez lost to.....he lost to the fastest, quickest, and one of the more skilled fighters of this generation at 12 lbs north of where he should be fighting......that my friend does not equate to Marquez still not being one of the top fighters in the game today. .....in fact, if Marquez drops back to 135 lbs, my p4p list still has'nt changed to what it was before the Mayweather fight..... Thats right..... 1 Mayweather 2 JMM 3 Manny Pacquiao ......there is no reason for me to feel otherwise as I feel Pacquiao will do much worse vs Mayweather than Marquez did.
You are all clearly misguided hatton was shot oscar was shot cotto will brutalise and Ko pac very easily will be like a cat with a mouse.
Neither was PACQUIAO in his prime in their fights! WHOOPED my ASS! Regarding PACMAN and FLOYD, if ever it happens, it's a one thing that still remains to be seen....else, it's JUST YOU'RE ****IN' PREJUDICED IMAGINATION as always! :hat
Divac, it is amazing hiw you still has your JMM glasses on. You can never be an objective analysis if it involves JMM. I would not want to dig old post but you are one who will never see any decline in JMM's skillset. The Pac - JMM fight was in 2004 at the age of 31, basically prime or slightly going past prime for many fighters. Yet from that time to the Juan Diaz fight, you only saw a slight decline. Question to your objective mind, if JMM was prime or slightly past his prime, would he have struggled against Diaz. One thing you never even considered in comparing Pacf and JMM is that Pac has a bigger frame. When he fought JMM in the first fight, Pac was a 24 years old, very raw fighter. But Pac had shown that his built grew as he slowly jumed diviisons. Although I am a pacfan, I have a great respect for JMM. Infact, when this fight was announced, I was stating all along that JMM not being KOed is a moral victory by itself because of the mismatch in garganbtuan proportions, not because Mayweather is far superior in skillset but because JMM had slipped bigtime in terms of skills, and thge fact that the fight is at 144. There is no way that a 36 year old with only 3 months to train, can bulk up TWO divisions and retain his speed. Your old post overrated JMM's cacbilities at welterweight when there is no basis whatsoever to know how he will do in that weight. At 135, we can see by ourselves without even debating. Casamayor and Diaz are figters who can not deliver HOF performances at this point of their careers. At 140, JMM's performance are plain speculations because he was never in that division, The 147, only GOd knows and now we know. One thing is certain, at 130, JMM is a hell of a fighter and my hats is off to him. Now, if Mayweather can squeeze himself even at 140 to fight JMM, then I can assure you that JMM might make the fight competitive. But the Floydette would probably argue that May would not be able to amke it at 140 without killing himself except probably with EZE. The same thing could be said of JMM, because JMM can not just jump two divisions and be effective. Sure he can bulk up to even 150 if he tries to, but it won't be effective fighting weight and that is why divisions exist. I will indulge you in your constant mantra of JMM whooping Pac because you are entitled to your own opinion, but it do sure sounds like a broken record.
thread closed. pejevan wins. there is no point of discussing anymore. i have said before in support of pejevan statement that jmm is ripe for the picking. 36 years old. no one has defeated father time. not hopkins nor foreman. certainly no mosley and jmm.
^ i've told you before PAC defies logic. How many times have I told you this?! If PAC wins AGAIN, it simply means YOU NEVER LEARN!!!!
It's a testament to just how good Money Mayweather is, that after he beats a fighter who arguable beat the P4P2 fighter twice, that his opponent is labeled as overrated in his first one-sided loss. JM Marquez is one of the greatest boxers in the sport! :deal
