As a Marquez fan, I'd rather this not happen, but it's clear he's not disrespecting Pacquiao or making unfair demands. I think most people who respect fairness in competition can sympathize with his perspective. I hope Mayweather saves an aging Marquez the dishonor of a loss at this stage and fights Pac.

JMM doesn't HAVE to weigh 147. 147 basically means they can weight whatever they want. JMM will probably weigh like 141-142, and Pac 144-145.

On fight night JMM will probably be around 145 and Pac around 148.

So Pac will have 2-4 lbs on Marquez which yes is a slight disadvantage that would make a Marquez win even more impressive if he can get it.

I don't think he wants to cede any weight advantage and risk being lighter while allowing a few extra pounds behind Pacquiao's punches, hence his statement saying he will match Pac in weight.

Well, fact is Pac is slightly bigger than JMM at this point since he has been fighting at 147+ for over a year now.

I think to most fair thing would be for the two fighters to meet at 140 or 141.

I just hope that the tards who were criticizing Pac for fighting catchweights against Cotto and Margo won't criticize Marquez too.

Honestly I think if Pac does have that 2-4 lb weight advantage at the weigh-in, Marquez will get KTFO.

Funny how some have said Marquez is not the same anymore. I remember in his fights with Manny fans and commentators thought Manny was reaching his max. Now its the complete opposite, I wonder what happend?

I don't think JMM has any business up at 147, if this happens I'd rather it at 140. That said its not something I'd be particularly interested in seeing unless a few other potential fights fall through for Pacquiao

JMM is giving up too much weight, if the fight is contracted at 147. 140 is optimal, for this fight, and it's obvious Pacquiao can still make that weight.

No matter what weight either of them come in at or what the limit is, Pacquiao is simply a much better fighter than Marquez now. They were evenly matched in '04, they were evenly matched in '08, but Pac has taken a sonic leap forward in the last two and a half years. That's why he is able to barely lose a round vs a 150+lbs Cotto and a 165lbs Margarito, while Marquez struggles manfully with a 135-140lbs Juan Diaz. Pac would devastate him - early.

he will not. even at 147, pac would weigh-in around 144 while jmm would come around 142-143. also the same case during fight night where pac would weigh 148 and jmm around 146.

Will he still demand Pacquiao to take random tests, as well as a 50/50 split?

Although I'm not too keen on seeing this fight take place, I'd prefer it to be done at 140. It won't look too good if Pacquiao was to force him up to 147. It'll take the shine away from the win, and pave the way for even more criticism.
