How would you compare the two fighters in terms of overall skills? What does JMM do that is different to his brother?

I know both were trained by Nacho Beristain and fought in a similar textbook style. I think JMM was the better boxer with a better chin while Rafael was the better puncher. Both, however, were great combination and counter punchers.

JuanMa is a counter-puncher who can lead, and Rafa is an aggressive boxer-puncher who can counter. Both have great skills, but I'd say they are evenly matched in their offensive arsenal, while Juan Manuel has the better defense.

They're both excellent on the inside and can box well on the outside/mid-range. I'd say Rafael is more creative in setting up his offense as the aggressor, and Juan Manuel has the better defensive movement and fundamentals. He's also the better mover.

    Good analysis. :good
Can you imagine a fighter that had the combined skillsets of both brothers? Would make one hell of an exciting fighter with great fundamental skills.

:good I agree Bogo. Rafa had a nasty right hand while Jmm was more about combination punching and his left hook left uppercut was his most dangerous punch. I remember in an interview with the Marquez bros theyd get daily beatings by Finito until one day Rafa finally bested him. Then he knew he was ready. This is how I have it. 1. Finito 2. Jmm 3. Rafa What Id like to know is if Humberto Chiquita Gonzales, a stablemate of Finito and a man who beat Carbajal twice, how he and Finito fared in sparring. Finito-Carbajal was a great fight that never happened.
