The trials for the Central American and Caribbean Games started on March 11th, Joahnys Argilagos, the talented 21 year old light flyweight from Cuba defected in Tijuana and is looking forward to get political asylum based on his accolades and the possible consequenses if he goes back to Cuba.
He is a talented fighter and the youngest of the Cuban team, Cuba went to win 8 of the 10 weightclasses in the tournament, Yosbany Veitia in 52 was sick and couldn't fight and Argilagos defected, my two teammates Robinson Rodriguez (my former trainer) and David Jimenez won those two finals.

Things are harder for the Cubans that go to USA right now, is not like a couple of years ago, also with the recent performances of Cuban boxers, promoters are not high on them and he's also a light flyweight but he is extremely talented and if he goes back to Cuba, it can be bad for him.

He is the new blood of Cuban boxing, the last Cuban olympian that turned pro is Yordenis Ugas.

Wow didn’t expect this. He’s a phenomenal prospect and arguably one of the biggest prospects in boxing

He is the youngest member of the Cuban team, he was looking great in Rio until he faced Yuberjen Martinez who was also looking great, he has some split results against Hasanboy Dusmatov but he is a quality fighter, I wish him the best, the Cubans are looking a little bit soft in the amateurs recently and bad in the pros.

He looked fairly crappy in recent wsb fights, seems to have a low output and doesn't punch very hard.
Also not in a big money division, cant see this ending well

Most of them are looking bad recently, only Andy Cruz is looking good, It can be and I hope it is a motivation thing, he maybe lacks power but he is very skilled and only 21 and the weight thing worries me but small fighters are getting more exposure recently.

    Great to see.

Wish more could get away from Cuba.

He may just go pro in Mexico. More interest in the smaller weights and plenty of cards to build up his record first.
