I'm ashamed to admit that I have only recently discovered Mini Tyson and from the videos that I've seen of him I'm really impressed with his skills. Shades of Mayweather but with more flash. Is Guzman the biggest waste of talent alongside Zab Judah and Andre Dirrell? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUX_gRTTS_E
Don't understand him, he cannot control his weight at all. No discipline. Shame really he could be a great addition to 140.
He changed his name from "Little Tyson" after Humberto Soto brought out the pusssy in him and made him run like a *****.
He is not even close to the fighting style of Mike Tyson. He is very skilled though and very slick with very good defense and good speed and power in his prime back in the mid 2000s in the 126-130lb. He didn't have the aura of Mike Tyson or the side to side or come forward bob and weave and killer combinations of Mike Tyson so I dunno why they call him little Tyson?
I'm re-watching the Guzman/Soto fight right now and I have a very fond appreciation for it. I find myself rewatching it atleast once a year since it happened 7 years ago. Both fighters on the rise at the time hoping for a big fight with Pacquiao or a fight with Mab, morales and jmm. Imo both fighters were at their very peak going into this fight and were clearly motivated. With that being said Joan Guzman looked absolutely tremendous in this fight. You could immediately tell by his ring entrance he meant business and was 100% ready. Guzman boxed, brawled, fought inside and outside, threw wide punches with extraordinary speed and accuracy that Soto really had no answer for. I would pick him over Mab and morales at the weight with slight edges to Pac and jmm. Joan Guzman was definitely a waste of talent that had potential to be an ATG. He could of cleared out 4 divisions if he had control of his weight (122,126,130,135). It's a shame of how his career turned out to be but he has no one to blame but himself. I wish HBO would try harder to make fights like this of 2 up and coming fighters trying to make a name for themselves instead of 1 named fighter vs. cannon fodder.
LOL You're making it sound like Guzman put on some kind of boxing masterclass in that fight when nothing could be further from the truth. He didn't even win the 1st round of that fight and the scorecards were bogus.
Although the fight had its competitive moments Guzman had the fight far and away. 9-3 was more than fair for Soto. You felt Humberto Soto had his moments? :think
