    you said it wrong

joan "the supernatural" guzman, as amsterdam would prefer it.

it thinks folks should not trash guzman anymore. yes we are annoyed by amsterdam's antics before and yes he was unprofessional against campbell but he showed heart against funeka. it was a bad decision but still he has determination to continue fighting and not quit.

an interesting fight. Funeka is a difficult matchup for just about anyone at 135.

I think the draw was not a terrible decision. Certainly Guzman did not win. Funeka may have won 7-5. The headbutt should have ended this fight earlier. It was a factor. The broken nose was also a factor but hey that was delivered by a legal blow or blows. So that cannot be used as an excuse.

I think the rounds that Funeka won, he clearly dominated and won. Guzman did nothing these rounds. But there were a few close rounds and Guzman definitely won Round 1, 2, 12, and one of the mid rounds.

Guzman will be back. I would expect a rematch and a good fight. Guzman is clearly not what he once was. He's not the same guy, and I don't think it's all based on inactivity. Age is definitely in play here. The reflexes aren't what they were.

However, as long as he picks up one more title belt, then the induction into the IBHOF will proceed and i will be booking my trip!

I like Guzman but you're delusional if you think he will be in the HOF just by picking another belt.

The truth is that for all the talent he has he also has an average resume and he only has himself to blame for that.

Is this like inner-city speak? Bad is good and good is bad?

really pumped for the rematch. I've started drinking in anticipation and i'm not stopping til I hear "And New IBF Lightweight champion of the world, Joan Guzman"!!!

Glad to see Guzy is taking this serious. Got out of his comfort zone, training in the UK with Lee Beard. He trusted his talent and underestimated Funeka the first go around. His reflexes are no longer amazing but they are still very good. They've got to find a way around Funeka's long jab. That busted nose changed the entire fight.

It will be interesting to see what changes Beard has brought upon Guzman. Not really sure how those two fit together but we should see early on. Regardless, Guzman remains an elite talent and with the preparation he's put in this time around, he'll win this without any controversy.
