He really could have been a top 3 P4P mate.I know Harrison's a local fighter for me but I really wanted to see him go in with Guzman a few years ago.Joan would have seriously schooled him.I agree about the Judah thing, just used the glassman as a comparison.JG did have a far better all round game.I have a real deep seated anger when it comes to fighters with extraordinary talent, and Guzman must be one of the worst/best examples in recent times.:-( Matthyse is a current fave of mine, but if Joan has his head right, only the VERY best would beat him,but as you know, that's a huge if. I'd like Matthyse to get a bit of a break,he doesn't have much luck does he?
What part of Scotland is it you're at pal? What would be beautiful, is Guzman vs Linares at 135 or even 140. (Guzman is awful for making weight) two guys who should of been at the top of the P4P rankings. Lucas should chase a Maidana fight if/when he gets past Soto. He needs a win or he'll be more avoided than the plauge. Soto isn't a given, but I pick the bigger man.
Who is Guzman going to beat at 135 and 140? I honestly do not see him beating any of the top guys at those weights.
The only part mate.G lasgow.(Celtic, usually the first question!) It's frightening to think that this guy could still be a threat up at 140 when you consider he's only there because he's a lazy trout.Too many people nowadays assume moving up is par for the course and it gets on my tits.Imagine JG actually choosing to compete from feather up?:think I'm convinced Lucas has enough for the Indian.I've never been convinced about Maidana, although last week's suggestions that he's finished were predictably ridiculous.:good
Guzman looked shot last night. He was slow, couldn't pull the trigger, his defense wasn't there, he was getting hit whenever that guy threw punches it seemed like. He also had enough flab on him to look like he should be fighting at 126. His arms were quite womanly in appearance, the guy looked like he could shed another ten pounds and still not be ripped. Guzman does seem to have more power now though. I think rematches with him and Soto, or him and Funeka would turn out being great action fights, due to Guzman having slipped a bit.
I'm from a Rangers family :-( I sometimes stay in a town just outside Glasgow called Ayr. Maidana is a force at 140, he hits you then chances are he hurts you, no finess there but horse power makes up for it in a way, I just want him to smash Rios to peices :!:
I spent a lot of away days in Ayr when I was younger mate. The whole county (Ayrshire) is mostly Rangers orientated, but it's not the worst place for visiting(Ayr) and used to have good nightlife. I think we all want to see anyone shut Rios' big mouth. To be fair though, the guy is comedy gold.A gift that keeps on giving.:rofl
Even though he looked good yesterday he isn't the same fighter he was 3-4 years ago. He's not as quick and his reflexes ain't the same which is what his fighting style is based upon. He can become a world champion and beat good fighters but he won't be good enough for the likes of Marquez and Gamboa.
Humberto Soto was on fire in a stretch before Guzman made him look like a clown following him around all night just to get tagged in the face for it. :!: **** cost me my only time off bet on here.
