According to trainer Lee Beard, former champion Joan Guzman is going to remain in the junior welterweight division and he plans to target all of the big names, including Amir Khan, Marcos Maidana, Tim Bradley and Devob Alexander. In March Guzman was nine-pounds over for his scheduled lightweight title bout against Ali Funeka. He won a unanimous decision, but his issues with weight has hurt his ability to get back on American television.
.........9 PNDS OVERWEIGHT, THATS UNACCEPTABLE. THE MAN IS A HELLUVA FIGHTER WHEN HE COMES IN WEIGHT AND TAKES IT SERIOUSLY......I THINK HE NEEDS TO SEE JENNY CRAIG BEFORE HE CAN CHALLENGE A FIGHTER!.........................."NO DEDICATION"

It appears Joan Guzman is targeting the possibility of having his head knocked off by a quality fighter.

Yeah, on the one hand, **** him, he doesn't deserve it. On the other, I'd love to see him get his ass kicked by an Alexander. Devon though. Devob is horrible. No jab.

Guzman needs to prove he can make light welterweight then spend a couple of years rebuilding his reputation before he 'targets' anyone...

Instead of Mini-Tyson, Guzman is turning into mini-Toney.

He just won why not see him fight one of those guys

Alexander could use a good win

Khan would quite critics if he wins with ease

Maidana would gain from this win

    Bradley should fight a unification

I might see if I can get odds on whether he makes 140 for the first bout of his LWW campaign.

I was always a fan of Guzman but over the years he's managed to completely turn me off.

He's a very talented fighter but he's lost the right to call out any big-name fighters. If one of these guys do fight him, they should put some really severe penalties into the contract for when he inevitably comes in overweight. Something like, for every pound over the limit he weighs, he has to pay his opponent 25% of his purse.

he just won, yeah, but the guy cheated on the scales.

this MOFO has had far to many chances in my opinion, everyone should tell him to go **** himself.the guy is a disgrace to the sport.
