Over the past 2 years, I have become a born again boxing fan:D. I am excited for this weekends fights, especially the Guzman v Funeka fight. Mainly because I am from the Dominican Republic and am itching for a Dominican boxing superstar. I have my hopes set on two fighters, Victor Manuel Cayo and Joan Guzman.....both light welters (140lbs) Do they have what it takes?

Guzman is 33 and needs to make a run at glory now! He's had 1 fight in 2 years. I've never seen any of his fights except for youtube clips but his style seems to be very entertaining. He undefeated and is considered a top lightweight by all sanctioning bodies....but he's yet to face an elite opponent. He is now going to fight at 140lbs (after failing to make weight for a Nate Campbell fight)

Victor Manuel Cayo is undefeated, and impressively outclassed a good fighter in Julio Diaz in his last fight. He has a very unique style and is also very entertaining to watch

....Do you guys think these two can hang with the likes of JMM, Timothy Bradley, Nate Campbell and even dare I say Pacquiao (lol no one can hang with Pac right now scratch that!)?

    Opinions....

Joan Guzman's career has been a big disappointment for me. When I first seen him fight at 122, I thought he was going to be a star and a fixture on everyone's P4P list.

His inactivity and problems with weight have ruined what could have been a HOF career. I twice bought a ticket to see him fight over here in Scotland (against Arthur and Harrisson). Needless to say both fights fell through. After the Campbell debacle, I gave up on him.

He still has the talent to hang with anyone at 135 and maybe 140 (he really is a superb fighter) but I just don't have any faith that he can take advantage of a good opportunity.

my bad I read incorrectly, but yeah first and foremost Joan Guzman is easily one of the most skilled lightweights in some time, and Cayo is a guy I've been following for a minute as well, very exciting fighter

joan guzman is a great fighter, just nobody wants to deal with him (get in the ring with him). hes one of the best pure boxers today. he has a lot of talent, he just needs to showcase it. he needs better promotion.

Wow pretty cocky considering the fact that the top rican champs both lost their tittle in awful fashion recently along with Carita, all within a span of 3 months.

Well if you're referring to boxing talent then you are right. If you are referring to anything else I do not understand your point. Kinda off topic. Anyhow, thanks for your contribution to my questions.:good

Elio Enai Rojas is another one. He is the WBC Featherweight champ. The kid is talented and fun to watch.
