Just saw the fight. Apart from the first round Khabib was better . Absorbing Guz punches and damaging him with his punches
A question. Shouldn't it be a TKO? :huh

On the bright side, his legs did need a shave. :barf That is some gnarly fuzz.

Hopefully he takes a Bic to the other one for a more aesthetic symmetry. :nod

    Yes, IMO.

The reason it went to a technical split decision at all is because Pabon ruled an "accidental foul" - and there really wasn't one. It was a freak injury and it occurred at random, not Allakhverdiev's fault at all.

Humberto Soto was still a B+ talent when Guzman whipped him.

Solid secondary victories over Jandaeng, La Hiena, Beltran, and Diaz. Then his so-so tertiary tier: Jauregui, shell of Aggie Sanchez, etc.

Also, Guzman is now 36 and hasn't exactly been active - nor really sparring the best to keep his tools sharpened.

However, it does stand to reason now having seen how Allakhverdiev handled him with a minor stylistic tweak (with Guzman still looking somewhat like himself in the first 5-6 minutes) that maybe he was never quite as potentially great as lots of people believed...

Really, Funeka would've been his biggest scalp if he'd gotten by him uncontroversially - and he didn't come out of their 24 rounds together smelling like a rose at all, despite not actually copping an official loss either time. The writing was on the wall then.

Still a "waste of talent", just maybe not as much as most of us thought.

where do you think martinez learned how to go about his career....
guzman beat soto, who didnt really amount to anything......

martinez beat pwill who at the time was not really a huge threat anymore.....

Guzman was faking. He limped on the wrong leg twice.

The right guy won and that's all that matters. I thought the scores were whack, as I had Allakhverdiev winning all but the 6th and 7th when Guzman got on his horse.
Shoulda been 3 scored KDs in this fight too, but **** it. A NEW STAR IS BORN.

Where the hell has boxing been hiding this Allahkverdiev. Ive heard of him, but never seen him. The kids got the tools.

I would love to see him get it on with Garcia. That would be a great fight for the LWW division.
Hell, Id like to see Peterson or Khan give this kid a shout. :think

well he has beaten campbell, mabuza and now guzman. I'd favor him over peterson, zab and khan.Tszyu is the head trainer for Khabib

He beat Guzman last night without Tszyu even being a presence in camp, let alone in his corner. (although he did have John David Jackson, not too shabby)

Did the Aquinity mafia break his forearm? Yeah rough night though, he has no business at 140 and he said he can't make 135 where he would at least have a shot if he avoids the Problem Child.
