Pac is being underated in this thread, and badly. In fact, I would pick him, until I see Guzman do something at the highest levels of the sport.

Pac at this weight was crude and unrefined. But he was also a prolific puncher, a hungry fighter, capable of applying preasure for 12 full rounds, and a relatively unkown commodity. Many who stepped into the ring with him were completely unaware of what they were into until it hit them.

Guzman is most definently the more skilled fighter, but Pac had an element to his game that is hard to bet against until proven otherwise. He has won at the highest level of the sport (even in his "crude" form) and its not for nothing.

Guzman will the greatest broke fighter in history. He'll be the greatest cream that fails to rise to the top.

theres a reason that this guy takes home barely 25k a fight when others are in the big leagues making millions. Do you really think a fighter this good will be undiscovered at 32. If he is then he'll be the first ever.

He is the most skillfull guy who throws the widest punches...a little tyson with no power. ..Hes just a man full of contardictions.. he will be remembered

Ohh wait..everyones avoiding him..guys liek Barrios and Soto those guys got some balls, good bless them for the beatdown they endured

    Only on ESB

Is this the "length and shape of forhead determines alpha status" analysis? :think

guzman is not a monster puncher unlike some people here are claiming him to be. yes he ko/tkod some guys at 122lbs but he relied on speed, accuracy and quantity to do that. he can beat pac but not by knockout.

i hope they do fight so we do not have to start fantasy threads like this one

Pac fans are basically saying that he'd win because he was a power punching machine who never got tired at 122 with a great chin and heart/toughness. I agree he was that, but what would happen if he had to fight Guzman, someone who would be able to deal with that easily. Pac is simple to figure out because of his one-dimensional style. All Guzman would need to do is wait for Pac to throw a combination and miss it, step to the side slightly, and counter him when he's completely out of position. Repeat and repeat. He would also have a lot of success connecting jabs and he would jump on Pac during the right moments and swarm him with combinations that he wouldn't be able to deal with. Pac never fought well fighting off the back foot and he would be even more confused against Guzman who fired off 5-6 punch combinations extremely quickly and jumped back out of range before his opponents could do anything. At 122, Pac only had a fast, heavy, straight left that he would overwhelm fighters with. He wouldn't be able to overwhelm Guzman with it because of Joan's incredible reflexes and sense of distance. Joan wouldn't have any trouble connecting on Pac, who leaves himself open all the time. It would be a clinic. The few times Pac would land a straight left on Guzman, it wouldn't matter because of his great chin. Guzman would take advantage of every single one of Pac's flaws and show what a elite reflexive counter punching swarmer would do to a one dimensional fighter with a great, but very limited offense.

    You got a point there.

Guzman has a chance if the fight gets at full rounds, but seeing Pacquiao on the other hand relies on speed, power, aggressiveness and little quantity of punches could take someone out.

Yeah Im getting tired of this Fantasy stuffs, I like the reality though.

Joan is the alpha male at 130 pounds and he's probably so in his personal life. Floyd tries to act like the alpha male but comes off as childish, not like a real example of masculinity that should lead by example.

Guzman's arrogance supercede's typical latin machismo, he knows he's supernatural and knows that he's the king of his own universe.

I hear he's got somewhere around 8 children, from Dominican super models, again, he's the alpha male, physical phenomenon.

Dude if you love him so much, Why don't you both get a room instead?

Most of your points are just based on your fantasy, let's just look on reality shall we. No offense.

Guzman at 122 was a slugger who had a very over rated power, he never had Pacs power at 122, he used to load up on his punches but still couldnt come close to pacs speed or power. He was never the master boxer at 122 that we know now at 130. His one test at 122 was against a Sanchez coming off a 3year retirement after suffering an eye injury after the pac fight. At 122 this should be pacs fight, he'll rain down power shots on him cuz 122 he would have stayed in front of pac.

    Huki, I respectfuly disagree.

Barerra, Morales, and Marquez could have all outboxed Pac as well but for the most part came up short. I rate the skill set of Marquez higher than I do that of Guzman (perhaps not as fast or agile, but with masterful timing and ring gernalship), and he has fought two very close fights with Pac and has been put down.

Guzman has a excellent skill set on paper, and you are correct he has elements to his style which are the foil to Pac- but skill sets on paper don't always wash in the ring.

I am absolutely positive that Pac is a terror in the ring, and that no matter how crude and "counterable" he is, he has found a way to bend most of his fights to his will. Until I see Guzman do the same thing, I put my money on Pac all day.

Pac at 122 threw 100 punches a round relentless throughout. All punches power punches with blazing speed. Guzman fights in spurts and showcases his comparable "speed" via shoeshining his opponents. Thats a big difference right there

Guzman throws wide looping punches ala Valero albeit with superior speed. I see Pac connecting with that straight left all day . Guzman can run all day..this is law of averages..sooner or later that left connects, no one has been able to avoid that at 122, I wont count on Joan whos D is so so to break the mold

if Joans chin can handle the left good for him, if he cant hell be sleeping

The pace Pac will put Guzman through will be torture..I hope Joan doesnt GAS

Unbelievable how some of you guys analyze matchups.

pac has hella good power and he throws alot`@~@~ guzman didnt have his power and didnt beat anybody so he wud get KTFO!11

If an old, past-prime counter puncher with fading reflexes, much slower footspeed/handspeed, and a worse chin than Guzman (JMM) could win 3/4 of the rounds during two fights against an improved Pac with more experience, think of what a prime beast Guzman at 122 would do to the less experienced, even more limited Pac. Jesus Christ..
