    According to the Dominican paper "Listin Diario" the fight between Guzman and Campbell is on.

    Here's an excerpt:

    "La información sobre el próximo combate titular de Guzmán fue dada a conocer por el presidente de OMB, el abogado puertorriqueño Francisco ñPaco- Valcárcel, a través del encargado de prensa de ese organismo para Latinoamérica y el Caribe, el periodista Freddy Núñez Jorge.La pelea entre Guzmán y Campbell se realizara debido a que el monarca interino de la OMB, el cubano Joel Casamayor, desistió de enfrentar a Campbell, quien es el titular oficial."


    The infrmation about the Guzman bout was revealed by attorney Francisco Paco Varcacel, president of the WBO and Freddy Nunez Jorge, press secretary for the organization.
    The fight between Guzman and Campbell will be in effect due to the fact that the interim champion cuban Joel Casamayor, opted not to fight Campbell who's the official Champion.

    If it's on, Campbell co-promoter will confirm it (hopefully).

    What is the final date? I hope it's still August!

    Actually, I already confirmed it in a few other threads. The fight is on, we are just working out the date and site details.....

    This is a great fight. IMO both fighters have shown to have elite capabilities but still have that ? on their name. The winner would create a big shout for himself. The winner of this fight should face Pac or winner of Casa-JMM.

    Some big fights at LW im really looking forward to this year, their really making it happen. The best way to end it would be a Valero-Juan Diaz showdown!

    This is one of those fights where it means great opportunities for the winner (and I wish great opportunities for both) but I don't want either guy to lose. :cry:

    It'll be great hype leading up to the fight with both fighters constantly talkin' smack to each other and no doubt it's gonna' be a great fight as well.. Pacquiao should definitely fight the winner of this fight at the end of the year.. Props to both of these fighters though for wanting to fight the best and as soon as possible.. I would like for Campbell to win this one, but I'm not sure on my prediction as of yet, as Guzman is an excellent fighter.. The lightweight division is filled of a lot of great talent and they're all fighting each other.. I'm lovin' it..

    We wont really know about the site until we know the actual date. I'd love to do the fight in Tampa, but if we are looking at only Aug 2 or Sept 6 dates with Showtime, the St. Pete Times Forum is unavailable on those 2 dates, and the Sun Dome is probably too small.

    Once we lock in the date, if it's one of those 2 dates, then Tampa is most likely out of the equation, and then Don will step in and negotiate a site deal somewhere else. Hopefully, we have a date locked in within a week or so, and I'll know more at that time.........
