An interesting fight (to me at least) that I'm actually backing Mosquera to win. Guzman looked like a shell of himself last time out. He didn't appear to have the legs he once possessed, nor the reflexes, routinely being caught and hit with good punches against the ropes. He was deposited on the canvas multiple times as well, lucking out to have them called slips. That is one area Mosquera shines in... Backing opponents against the ropes, roughing them up, and rapid firing straight rights in succession. Awkward yet effective. I feel Mosquera is far more of a "fighter" than Guzman, who I feel has a bit of ***** in him. I don't think he likes it when the going gets tough, where as Vincente is a fighter in every since of the word. Not to mention Guzman supposedly received some very serious injuries in his last fight. Two fractures in his left hand and a "serious fracture to the lower part of his left knee". Not good for a man who's best attribute was his ability to move all night long. Odds are juicy, over 4-1 on some betting books. Might be a good play to look into if anyone echos similar sentiments. Just reminds me of the likes of Ivan Calderon and Cory Spinks... Fighters who relied on movement and reflexes, physical attributes. Once they started to degrade, their careers were all but done. Thoughts?
I am looking forward to this fight on Telemundo, which always has good scraps that go unnoticed. I kinda hope Guzman wins, because I get a kick out of those Acquinity Sports press releases that I see online lol.
Well now that I know Acquinity is actually promoting the event I'm down to virtually no confidence in Mosquera getting a decision. He will have to knock Guzman out to get a draw. GUERRA LOCO!!!
I was slightly tilted and have included guzman in an 4 fight accumulator, I remember having no plan on touching him again after his last perfomance. He was dreadful as in completely shot to ****, i'm hoping he just was under prepared or some excuse cause I shouldn't have stuck him in with this bet
I just picked up tickets for this fight today and will be attending tomorrow. Im not really sure what to expect, I just hope its entertaining. Ill be 3 rows back from ringside, hopefully i can get some decent pics
How can you criticize his last performance when he picked up he got two fractures in his left hand and a serious fracture to the lower part of his left knee & it was still close on the cards.
Errr because he was knocked down several times, at times by grazing punches. He was consistently bullied against the ropes and seemed to no longer have the legs he once did, nor the reflexes. All this happened before his "injury". He was clearly losing the fight, the cards don't reflect what was happening in the actual fight. They would have been far wider if multiple knockdowns against Guzman were actually called.
He actually had a great looking camp. Did you see all the high end training he was getting leading up to the fight? Had actual nutritionists and made weight comfortably for the first time in years. The entire promotional company was being built around Guzman, he was prepped as well as he could have been for the fight.
Well, he was down on the cards on their last card that completely revolved around him as the main attraction. I believe two of the offical judges for the match are Florida based however....
True, and rightfully so (down on my card as well) - but Allakhverdiev was unbeaten and generating some buzz already. Boxing politics will allow for a torch-passing long before they allow someone like Guzman to lose to an obscure "never-was" (going by casual fans' perspective - you and I may know Mosquera is a legit toughie but realistically he is the sort who gets called a nobody by the hoi polloi) :err
I don't know. Like I said, I think Guzman's heart isn't in it anymore. Children, inactivity, weight problems, injuries, his general performance against Allakhverdiev just reeked of someone with one foot in the grave/out the door.
