Thanks for a reminder decebel. I hope to god that Calzaghe beats the old ***** badly. I think it may be a close fight with Calzaghe winning but I pray for a serious beatdown on Hopkin's arse. What a punk.
Well, Bhops thinks he is the clever matador who will spear the crazy bull who dives forward, swarming. Sometimes, though, things go wrong: This content is protected :yep
I just find the man (Hopkins) embarrassing. People here harp on about how certain fighters talk about themselves as if they are the second coming but Hopkins is the biggest offender in the sport. He is worse than the egomaniac we all know as PFB.
You, my friend are mistaken. At least the two fighters you have mentioned have done things in the sport of boxing.. Agreed? The worst offender of unwarranted egomaniacism (is that a word?) is Paulie Mali. Hands down, thread over regarding ego.:deal
Calzaghe called Trinidad small. He's only saying this based on Trinidad having previously been a welterweight. But when Trinidad faced Hopkins he was around the same size, and anyone who thinks otherwise is simply pulling the wool over their own eyes. Trinidad matured into a natural middleweight, similar to the way Hearns did in the mid 80's. Can you imagine Hagler moving up to light-heavyweight and his record being played down by his opponent saying "Who have you fought, Hearns was a small guy". Trinidad can't even get down to middleweight at present.
It is normal for him to say it four times. Shall we politely say that he's not the smartest of chaps. His interviews are very rarely literary wonders! We are also forgetting the fact that he is Welsh... let battle commence
Well...small or not/matured into a natural middleweight or not, I don't think that's the real point, although growing into a natural middleweight, if it's done right, qualifies you as a natural middleweight, sure. To me, the real point is whether you are as effective given your (new) style at the higher weight as you were at the previous weight you made your mark on. Not many people can pull it off, whether they mature into the higher weight or not...Trinidad did not...
That may be true but it would be unwarranted to suggest on that basis that Calzaghe is not a smart fellow; there's more than one way of being smart, dont-you-know...he was rattled; that's all. He might not be a great wit, but that doesn't make him not intelligent.
I agree, Calzaghe just is unable to handle the confrontation verbally. Come fight night we'll see if Bernard's edge here will transfer over.
I'd be very surprised if the better the debater, the better the fighter; in fact, is it not the other way around?:huh
Joe should use Jack Presscot's Driving Miss Daisy material at the Press Conference :rofl :rofl :rofl And the mock conversations he posts between Oscar and Bernard
