Would be a boring fight unless Bugner gets mad. I think Terrell is taller and might have the faster hands of the two. Terrell also has a very good jab. I don't really have that much footage of Terrell so it's hard to analyze him. I think head to head, Terrell MIGHT rank higher, but Bugner might have better wins. Terrell maybe takes a decision in a boring fight.. or a draw.
Bugner might have the better wins ? Can you elaborate on that please. I reckon Terrell has the better wins, by quite a distance.
He had wins over Wepner, Cooper, Foster, Ellis, Dennis, Johnson, Blin, Tillis, Page, and BoneCrusher Smith... Terrell has Bob Foster, Machen, Chuvalo, Jones, Williams, and Garcia. ???? Am i missing something here?
Bugner's wins after his comeback is quite outstanding for someone who peaked as no more than a decent conteder more than a decade earlier. He doesn't get enough credit for them.
OK, I'm not sure you're being serious, but I'll go along with you anyway. Wepner was no good, plain and simple. Terrell beat lots of fighters like him. In fact, a shot Terrell fought Wepner in 1973 and was robbed in what was decried as an outrageous robbery by most who saw it. Johnson ? Do you mean "Scrap Iron" Johnson ? Please no. Bugner's win over a 37-year old Cooper was highly controversial. Blin was nothing special at all. That's like saying Terrell beat Gerhard Zech. Tillis and Page were good wins for an older Bugner, but both had slipped and lost the hunger. Ellis was definitely past his best when Bugner beat him. Dino Dennis was never a real contender, and had been exposed as limited long before Bugner got him. He was coming off a loss to Donnie Long ! Joe Bugner v. Bonecrusher Smith. Please not. You seen that ? Terrell beat Cleveland Williams, Chuvalo, Zora Folley, Doug Jones ... when they were all still viable contenders. I cant be bothered to name all the third-raters on the level of Wepner and Johnson and Blin he beat.
I wish someone would upload Bugner v. Smith, you guys obviously haven't seen it if you think it's at all impressive. I dont think I can bear seeing Bonecrusher's titties jiggly around again though.
Yep, 4 good, and prime names. but still not AWESOME fighters either. Bugner definitely had good names on his resume, even if they weren't at their best.
Great Post!!!! TommyGunn forgot to look at what stage of their careers Greg Page, Bonecrusher Smith, and Jimmy Ellis were..when they fought Bugner
and look at what stage bugner was when he fought page and smith. Terrell might have fought the better QUALITY but bugner fought the better fighters. anyway, I think Dennis wasn't bad at all. neither was Cooper. the fact is, he beat the better names. in terms of quality, Terrell takes that obviously.
How does that make sense? Terrell was the one fighting the young ranked contenders while bugner was in the old man telethon fighting page, bonecrusher in old man snoozefests. Better names than Zora Folley, Eddie Machen, Cleveland Williams??? No way!
different kind of "better" IMO. what I meant Suzie, is that bugner fought the better fighters, OVERALL. at the time he fought them, and quality wise, Terrell takes that. is going after Cooper to get the championship title fighting old men and fighting non ranked contenders? you have to realize that Terrell fought old men and bums himself. I personally think Cooper, Ellis, Dennis, and foster are all at least as good as those 3 fighters, overall. not at the time they fought, obviously, bugner couldn't do anything about that. and as for wepner being a bum, yep, he is. but he was still game and came to fight.
