Joe Byrd Sr., Chris' father and trainer, said he might advise his son to retire. "I'm going to talk with Chris and see what the doctor has to say," said Joe, who will travel to Las Vegas this weekend. "He really doesn't have to fight anymore. He's pretty set for life, and he's getting offers to be a commentator. "Some boxers stay too long. Just retire with pride. You can always stay in boxing doing something else." Joe said his son likely faces surgery on the shoulder.
Thats responsible of his father to tell his son that. And its good to hear the Byrds are set for life and Chris doesnt need to keep fighting. He had some good paydays, and its fortunate to hear that a fighter actually managed their money and didnt get ripped off
good luck to the guy. Still found it bizarre to see his wife high-fiving and smiling at George right after knocking **** out of her husband, no matter how frienldy she is supposed to be.
Wow, YA THINK? Chris should have retired after the second Wladimir fight. All he's done is taken more punishment since then. His legs looked really bad against George. He is completely shot.
MIGHT?? MIGHT??? He should have after the Klitschko II fight. Damn, that last fight of his made everyone look bad!! Including Klitschko, Tua, McCline, Povetkin..
He might advise? He might need to watch Chris' fights vs. Klitschko, Povetkin and George and he might feel some movement inside his head indicating it's time to save his son's life..... Byrd's got beaten so badly lately that his daddy's DNA must've felt the pain....
I think Chris Byrd was a great fighter; but seeing him lose his last fight kinda sucked and I think he should retire. I think he can make an excellent carrer training young fighters if he chooses to do that.
