That was also the best version of Kessler that night in the Millenium Stadium - cracking fight

Giving the big fight this week, we could do with a fast tracked Fury five to warm us up on Sat night mate

The mad thing is if Joe wasn't bullied at school I very much doubt he would have got into boxing, neither, of course, would Enzo.

I've spun this dit before but I was at the Kessler fight. I also, on accident, met Enzo Calzaghe the day after the Lacy fight in Cardiff city centre.

He was walking with two mates opposite the Angel Hotel. I clocked him and before I could stop myself told him that him and Joe had done Wales proud. Shook my hand and off he went. He must have been the proudest dad on the planet that day.

Pathetically, Welsh news barely reported the magnitude the day after. In fact, there was some lame regional football which actually overspilled what scant coverage there was of it.

I rewatched Calzaghe Reid a few days back. I saw it live at the time and aside from how ridiculously juiced up Reid is, it's a lot clearer a Joe win than was shilled for a bit after.

A few years ago I met Roberto Duran of all people in Cardiff too, near the Castle Arcade. He could barely speak a word of English and is a LOT shorter IRL than he looks in the ring.

Had my mate saying it again earlier "Froch would have beaten him, Froch would have worn him down and won like the Taylor fight!" Not a chance, Joe would have had it sussed out by round 4 and that would have been it, UD all the way. Calzaghe was just technically on another level, I've spent hours and hours watching clips of him and how he fought, it's an education to watch!

Agree. Calzaghe had all of Froch’s strengths and more (except power but Froch wasn’t a monstrous puncher).

    Problem is we’ll never know.

For me, Joe would have beaten Froch, and he’d also have beaten Dawson, Pavlik, Taylor, Woods, Johnson, Tarver, Beyer and so on. For me he beats them all.

But as has been said, it’s better to beat people than say you’d have beaten them.
