Never said he wasn't a helluva fighter.Anyone who beats prime Kessler is a helluva fighter.But are you denying that he lied in order to make himself look good concerning Jones?Be honest.

 

Of course he changed his tune when it came to Jones. Every damn fighter in the world does when it comes to making millions of dollars at low risk. Doesn't mean he didn't beat the #1 SMW in Kessler, and Hopkins- who is still top 5 pfp. Ask Kelly.

 

I would respect Calzaghe's reign if he weren't such a ****ing liar.Before Hopkins lost to Joe,he was beaten twice by Froch ko victim Taylor.All the Pavlik fight showed was how limited Pavlik is.Please stop your bull****.

 

So the lying part is ok for the hype?And the 2 times TAYLOR victim should not be within the p4p #5 position in my opinion unless Taylor should be there 2.Oh wait,didn't he just get KTFO against Froch?Again,stop the bull****.

 

I'm not interested in passing judgment on a fighter for 'lying' or changing his opinion, I just care about what they do or have done in the ring, and Calzaghe did quite a lot. Hopkins is still top 5 pfp, and an atg. To deny that says more about your understanding of great boxing than about Hopkins.

Again,for the nine thousandth time,no denying that Calzaghe was a helluva fighter.However,Calzaghe obviously didn't do as much as he,or his "insanely" biased fans insist he did,because when he beat Jones,he beat a shot fighter,and he knew it,because he admitted as much years before,literally,on record.And,I'm not denying that Hopkins is a helluva fighter,too.But he was beaten by Jermaine Taylor TWICE,years before Joe beat him.I guess that makes Jermaine a legend too,eh?Stop lying to yourself and us,too.Be honest.

 

He's not really overrated, tho. Nobody rates him. I think that is a little unfair. The fact is he was protected and his resume is average. None of this means he couldn't fight. He was great fighter.

 

Yes,he could fight.Great handspeed,stamina.Pretty damn good footwork,too.But,you say first,"Nobody rates him..",then,"He was a great fighter."WTF?Which is it,then?

 

i enjoyed watching joe, but i think he is far from great....his best wins are even shady....i dont think he is anywhere near the word great.....

he got a controversial SD over a out of prime hopkins......the kessler win which is his best is not looking so good these days, becasue of the inactivity of mikkel.......and most have concluded lacy was not all that great as we once thought.......and joe also beat a semi-shot eubank.....prime eubank of '94 has Joe done in 7 or less.....

Calzaghe is good, but nowhere near great....

 

What I love is spinning the English language.Changing the expression,"lying through his ****in' teeth" to "Changing his tune."How ironic and biased.

If that isn't "Great", you've got no respect nor knowledge of boxing, you should **** off and leave it to people who are respectful enough to pay respect to warriors who fought over so many years.

The only controversy in the Hopkins fight was that Hopkins was given an SD.

 

ive changed my tune about calzaghe over the long haul. Yes, he could have done a lot more. But, JC has a lot of assets, fast hands, great stamina, huge punch output, good lateral movement, good footwork and a decent chin. I think he troubles anyone at 168 at anytime. He really made hop cry in that fight AND act. JC almost got the tko and hop was still a fine fighter.

I rate JC as great and HOF material.

 

i will show calzaghe no respect for saying boxing is dying he is a piece of **** period.....good fighter, but face it the guy lived under a rock for YEARS!!!! calzaghe is the poster child of overrated....he fought a ghost of roy jones and acts like its a big deal and a nice send off......pathetic..
